Blowfish Sushi & Ramen Northfield — Restaurant in New Trier Township

If you’re anywhere near Northfield and not stopping by Blowfish, you’re seriously missing out on one of the best sushi experiences in the area. We rolled in (pun intended) with high hopes, and left with full bellies, big smiles, and the kind of happiness only great sushi can provide.

First things first: the calamari. Holy tentacles, this stuff was excellent. Lightly crispy, tender, and dangerously snackable. We could’ve ordered a second round, but we wisely saved room for the main event: the sushi.

Now, let’s talk about the sushi rolls, which honestly deserve their own art exhibit. The presentation was next-level. Each plate looked like it was handcrafted by a sushi Picasso. Almost too pretty to eat… almost.

We tried several sushi rolls (Crunchy Dynamite, Tsunami, Creamy Scallop, Seared Wagyu, Unagi & Cucumber, and Tuna & Salmon). The quality of everything: from the fish to the finesse in plating was top notch.

The service? Excellent. Friendly, attentive, and just the right pace. We never felt rushed, and they made sure we were well taken care of.

We left Blowfish feeling full, happy, and already dreaming of our next visit. Whether you’re a sushi snob or just here for the tempura, this place hits all the right notes.

I’ve always gone to the Blowfish downtown location, probably at least once a month, so I had pretty high expectations coming here. Definitely make a reservation before you go because it’s a popular spot and gets busy fast. The Northfield location has a lot of seating inside, good for both big groups and smaller hangouts.

I came here to celebrate a birthday with my friend and everything we ordered was amazing. We got calamari, a few sushi rolls to share, and a poke bowl, and honestly everything was a 10 out of 10. So flavorful and fresh. Our waitress was super nice and friendly too, which made the experience even better.

After trying this place over the weekend, it is now our top rated sushi spot in NB! This place is amazing. Firstly, the ambience is incredible. It's very clean, dimly lit, cool aesthetic. The service was top notch!

The cocktails are delicious. I highly suggest the Umeshu Spritiz. I would totally go back just for this drink!

The sushi was UNBELIEVABLY fresh. For starters, we got the Stuffed Salmon and Seared Wagyu. It was so flavorful and so fresh! For rolls, we got the Smocky Salmon, Dragon, and Tsunami rolls.
