U Dawg U — Restaurant in New Trier Township

Came here hungry after a canoe excursion not too far away. The family ordered various items, but I will talk about mine. They have about a half dozen tables outside between two and four people each, but a lot of room inside. Our three year old is only half vaxed so we chose to eat outside.

They use a cheddar sauce instead of bread as the cheese. Together with the super fresh meat, it made for a perfectly juicy burger. Add in the sport peppers à la Chicago Dog and you have what I imagine would feel at home at Wrigley.

I also had the chili with was really nice, too, with the cheddar sauce (such a great idea) and fresh, diced onions. The service was great. They we're patient with the four of us and even took our order while we were in line. They sure kept things moving. We ended up getting our soups right away and, at the right time, the sandwiches.

Great...

I'm a huge fan of U Dawg U. First, the quality of food is very good and fresh Genesis maintained with all the condiments. Secondly, they really understand how a customer likes to be treated and that they aim to please. AlmostAlmost every time that I've been there they have made that known from the moment you walk through the door in a sincere way versus when you go to most fast food places where they greet you and immediately asked for your order like some kind of robot. That is not the case here. He even served us after they were pretty much closed down in I offered to come back another time but they insisted on taking care of us.

You can't get that kind of service at most places today and when you do you know it's special. Thanks to everyone who works there and thanks to the owners and managers for making it consistent with the others that work...

I recently discovered U Dog U in Northfield, and I was absolutely blown away. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel so welcome—friendly, attentive, and full of great recommendations for a first-timer like me.

I tried the chicken breast, and it was perfection—tender, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Learning that they use top-quality ingredients from Harrison’s in Glenview was just the cherry on top. You can taste the difference.

What really sets this place apart, though, is the atmosphere. It’s the kind of spot where you instantly feel like family. The owner was walking around, chatting with guests at each table, and you could tell he genuinely cared about every customer’s experience.

U Dog U is a true hidden gem—and one I’ll be recommending to everyone. Can’t wait to come back...
