Stepping into Three Tarts Bakery & Cafe in Northbrook is, quite simply, a delight for the senses—a true testament to the art of refined baking. The moment you enter, you’re greeted by the warm, inviting aroma of freshly baked pastries and the soft hum of a well-run kitchen. The display cases are a visual feast: rows of elegant tarts, perfectly golden croissants, and cakes that look almost too beautiful to eat (but trust me, you should).
The attention to detail here is impeccable. Each pastry is crafted with care, from the flaky, buttery layers of the morning danishes to the delicate balance of flavors in the lemon tart. The coffee is rich and robust, the perfect complement to a leisurely breakfast or an afternoon treat.

The staff is knowledgeable and genuinely enthusiastic about their offerings, always ready with a thoughtful suggestion or a warm smile. Read moreIve been in here several times now it’s a great stop on a long walk to the library or park with my kid. Every time we’ve been in it’s been super busy, more than 10 customers in an out of this small frankly cramped cafe(I add this to give possible context to baristas attitude later on) The first two times I went in my orders were wrong, the first time the barista caught it before even handing it to me and fixed it, the second time I apologized and let them know it was wrong, this time the barista was visibly annoyed and even though the drink I ordered was less expensive than the one they gave me she didn’t offer to fix her mistake(I didn’t realize until after looking at the receipt that they charged me for the wrong drink). None of this would have been a big deal if it weren’t for her attitude towards me but it really put me off to the cafe when both times going in I have issues with my order, and one of those times I was made to feel bad about it and overcharged. Well I’m writing this review and giving them 4stars because I’ve since been back 3more times with no issues and really tasty food and drinks, so they’ve won me over at least...
Read moreMany great selections at this little bakery. We have been customers since the bakery opened. The suggestion I make now is also the opinion of several recent customers who just happened to be in the store with me at the same time. The following situation happens frequently. The staff, with the exception of one very outgoing employee who understands customer service and just being pleasant, is very sullen. The majority of time the staff have their backs to customers when the customer walks in. Rarely will they turn around or even greet you. Even when there are just two people waiting for help the staff will not respond. One morning a woman and I waited for over 15 minutes for help. It was 8:30. This morning a staff member began tapping her fingers on the counter signally me to move closer instead of just asking me to come closer. Customer training is important. The outcome helps everyone. I work in a hospital, and it is nice to at least start the morning in a pleasant way. I come in frequently and yes, I spend money and leave a tip but not always...
