We finally visited last night, and we’re really glad we did. We had a couple of decaf espressos and a slice of Moka cake, both of which were fantastic and very reasonably priced. The cake was rich and delicious, pairing perfectly with the smooth coffee.
One of the best things about St. Roger Abbey is that it stays open past 6 PM. It’s hard to find cafés around here that offer evening hours, so this is a welcome change. The inside is cozy and inviting, with lots of interesting decor to enjoy while you sit. It’s the kind of place where you can relax and take your time.
We noticed several other five-star reviews praising the quality of the pastries and the friendly service, and we have to agree. The staff was welcoming and made us feel right at home. It’s nice to find a local spot that combines great food with a friendly atmosphere.
We can’t believe we didn’t discover them sooner. We’re already planning our next visit to try more from their menu. If you’re in the area and looking for a great place to grab coffee and a treat, we highly recommend St. Roger Abbey. It’s definitely...
Read moreSt Roger Abbey is one of the most delicious bakery shops in the Chicago region. It is entirely organic. I was impressed to see every selection, from savory to sweet is fresh and organic. If you go inside, you will find leaflets at the register with information about its farm in Wisconsin. The nuns run the shop and the farm. It explains how it is able to offer such a delicious array with all natural and organic ingredients in a highly processed market. St Roger Abbey is responsible for the entire food production growth — a true rarity in restaurants today.
If you are a fan of meringues, you should definitely get one of each flavor! The texture and flavor is real! The lemon meringue actually taste like lemon citrus with a slight chewy center, which dissolves quickly in your bite. Apricot tartlet is delicious. I like to let it sit out for a bit for a softer bite. However, if you are running or cycling by, it makes a great desert just as is. Cool and refreshing.
And if you looking for gifts or making gift baskets, the offerings here are an apt paring...
Read moreVery good pastry shop run by French Catholic nuns. I discovered them when I went to the "One of a Kind show" in merchandise Mart last year in early December. I had purchased their Madeline cakes that time and recently again at their shop in Wilmette. This time I bought 1 chocolate eclair and one tirmisu and wow was it was holy, Divine and delicious. I was busy going there because I just came from a job interview and had another phone interview and now I'm going to have to come back there again to order some other sweet treats. The tiramisu tasted fresh since they're ingredients were organic likewise with their chocolate eclairs which I didn't get a chance to take a picture despite eating it. And I didn't get a chance to check in and take a picture of the bakery but I do have a picture of the bag of mad Lions which are also delicious to an organic. Do give this place a try I would rate this bakery close to my favorite bakery Lutz. A bit pricey but worth it if you...
