Updated 7/3/23: Torino's GM reached out to me immediately after my 7/2/23 posting to inquire about the details, explain that Torino actively seeks to rectify the problems and graciously offered another opportunity to be a guest of Torino's or their new restaurant, Ichi, in the near future. Kudos to D'sean of Torino for an excellent response! I look forward to dining at Torino and Ichi soon.

Disappointed last night . . . We've been regular customers since Torino opened. Food & service always excellent.

Sat outside, ordered Torino ramen, couple bao's & assorted tuna sushi. Sushi was served within minutes w/reg. soy sauce in a ramekin. Asked for low-salt & the server brought a new bowl & several packets I could tear open myself?? Sushi was mediocre quality. Mushy, poor taste. My son tasted it & left it on his plate. I gave the last 3 pieces to my two dogs, who apparently aren't as discerning.

The Torino ramen tasted great, as expected, although, we both commented on the excessive fat on the pork. Apparently, too busy in the kitchen to trim it off. Again, another treat for my two Labs laying patiently under the table :)

Next time I want sushi, I'll stop at Akira, and maybe the rib place next door for BBQ. The brisket & ribs looked great as we walked past on the way back home.

Good luck Torino. Don't know why your food was "off" last night, but think we'll take a break til...

Wait staff was horrible. Our waiter passed our table without acknowledging us about 20 times before we had to ask another lady to call a waiter to our table. We were waiting 15 min at our table before even getting a hello. When our waiter finally arrived he didn’t even greet us, didn’t ask if we wanted to order drinks, didn’t say anything about the wait, and just asked if we needed more time as if the already long wait wasn’t enough. We ordered our food and i asked for a straw which was never brought and i had to wait until our food came to ask him again for it and then wait again for him to bring it. We got no water refills, I had to keep stopping other workers to ask for water because we were sitting with empty cups and our waiter was no where to be found. To top it all off, once we paid, i asked for a to go bag which was also never brought to me and I had to wait outside at the table until he showed up again to ask again for a bag. I just kept having to ask for things over and over again and wait for him to hopefully remember to bring them. One of the other waiters was more helpful so we wish we could’ve given him a tip instead because it seemed like he was the one that was actually waiting on us. The food was good but the service was not good at all so I don’t think we’ll...

My frustration with lack of authentic ramen north of Chicago is finally over. Torino Ramen has been on my list for a while and one visit was enough to convince that I shall revisit it soon. For my first visit, I tried their Torino Ramen, one of the many ramens that featured their famous signature chicken broth. For those who don't know, Tori means chicken. What I really liked about their ramen is the broth, which was light but very flavorful, and their noodles. The yellow wavy noodles were very chewy and tasted really fresh. The perfect balance of the two saw me down completely the ramen and every bit of the soup. This dish would have been entirely perfect but I felt that the ramen egg was quite overcooked and the pork belly undercooked (the fatty portion of it should be cooked through more!). Another suggestion is that I was not a huge fan of the fried oyster. The flavor profile was strange and frankly tasted very bland. Nevertheless, the ramen shop has plenty of good food to try and can't wait until...

Torino is a nice little ramen place in downtown Evanston. The restaurant looks onto the main street and they have an outdoor patio area for warmer months. The service was fast and very pleasant, being attentive but not to overbearing. The food was good. Their ramen is a bit non-traditional. They didn't have some of the more classic ramen flavors like tonkotsu (pork broth) or shio (salt) or shoyu (soy sauce) etc etc. Instead, they seem to favor a chicken based broth. The menu seems to appeal to a sort of pop-culture view of Japanese cuisine and culture rather than a more traditional route like I would have preferred. I also got their takoyaki, which is fried balls with octopus meat, which was very good. Overall, it wasn't the best ramen I've had, but it was an enjoyable meal. I don't think I'd go out of my way for it, though. If you're in the area and want some soup in a cozy setting, this is a good option.

I so wanted this place to be fantastic, but it is really disappointing. They quoted a 45 minute wait for a table. No objection, it's a hot new restaurant and got a table in 15 minutes. Strike 1: they seated us by a constantly opening door on a freezing night. It was so cold. When we asked to be moved to an open table, they first said it would confuse the kitchen. Then, they moved us, to an equally cold spot. Strike 2: I'm jumping ahead, but they brought our appetizers 10 minutes after our main dish and said nothing. No apology, no comment. Strike 3: even though the restaurant had started to empty, it took 30 minutes to bring our ramen. The food was good, but not good enough to overcome the wait. The people sitting next to us told us they had been waiting a full hour for the food. I will not return.
