Taco John's — Restaurant in New Ulm

It is a Taco John's, so just standard Taco John's fare - a pinch of cheese, a teaspoon of mystery meat, and about twice that in iceberg shoved in a shell to make you feel like you got something substantial. Same food you get at every Taco John's or their competitor. (Half the quality and twice the price of real Mexican restaurants that aren't fast food chains that fill you with free chips and salsa by the gallon.) Fast food taco stands with employees forced to ration out napkins and hot sauce packets like the gestapo is looking over their shoulder, as they dish out the potatoes in the soup line to the rest of us: their fellow laboreres. I am at work, too, looking for a quick bite, and these flavor packets are the only thing to spice up that iceberg bomb! Come on, sneak us a few more hot sauce packets when I ask and take the lashings, or let me pay the difference, your overlords will buy more to keep it stocked! I promise! And, what, no napkins for my two taco and two burrito feast? Is it because I asked for extra sauce? I mean, I do understand that we both know I am never losing a drip of that rare, rationed hot sauce, but that cheese and lettuce go everywhere! It is taco glitter and I got to keep my work truck from looking like I had a wild Fiesta in here! This Taco John's stand has one of the wonkiest drive thru designs I have been in, it is like Snake Alley but for drive thru. But I guess that is the best designers could do to fit this chain taco stand on this small parcel of land. Ole! Go here and get an odd taco just to drive this odd, short thru, get asked to wait for your order at the road boarder. It's a trip! But, the staff was super friendly, even compared to other Taco John's. And, I don't know what it is, but Taco John's staff always seem super friendly compared to other fast food chains. Not too long ago I went here in the AM 20 minutes after opening and an older man was operating the drive thru. He was the sweetest and most patient person and honestly, the best customer service person I’ve had in the food service industry. He let me order a basic taco and some oles. But, the last two times (including today) I did the same thing. I came 20 minutes and this older woman said that they don’t have any meat made until lunch time. I don’t know if this was a fluke where the other gentleman had meat or what the circumstances were but god was she rude. This woman has the absolute worst attitude and yelled at me through the speaker for wanting a meat taco. I then proceeded to say that it was posted on the menu and asked what they have on the menu that’s actually available. She said the breakfast food. It’s very vague and I asked for clarification, she wouldn’t give it. It’s sad that all the younger staff have great customer service skills, including some at opening time but this older lady has no respect for customers. If you are going to be yelling at people through an intercom and have an attitude, DO NOT WORK IN THE FOOD SERVICE. With having to get her twice and be treated like that, I don’t think I’ll be coming back to this location again. As I see other reviews, it looks like she’s ruined this location...

I stepped over to use the bathroom while we waited for our food! Their were 2 bathrooms available to use that were unisex! There was an employee cleaning one of the bathrooms & the other was unused. I was going to use the available bathroom & the employee stopped me and asked me to wait until he was done cleaning the bathroom he was in and I could use that one because he needed to go straight to the other bathroom & clean that one. I world have been in and out of the other bathroom before he even finished cleaning the one he was currently cleaning. I obliged & and waited, but was really taken back by his strange request. There was nothing wrong with the open bathroom. He was more worried about himself having to maybe wait a few minutes for me to finish so he could go in and clean. He preferred to unnecessarily have me WAIT to use the bathroom so he wouldn't have to wait a minute or 2 for me. I know this comment isn't good related, but I felt this was poor customer service.
