About eight months ago, I left Perkins to pursue a different job. I was a cook there for almost three years. One thing I can always say about the place was how much I enjoyed working with my fellow co-workers. The pay wasn't good, but I enjoyed my job because of the people I worked with. I came back this morning and that hasn't changed one bit. I had met with an old friend whom I cooked with here, but who had also left for a different job. We both agreed that it was the people that made working at Perkins enjoyable for us. And even after months, I still have the same sentiment. I go to Perkins for the friendly staff.
Speaking of staff, our server Laura is as kind and friendly as she's always been. We talked for a good while, and she was attentive at our table, refilling our glasses without us needing to ask. Very prompt with bringing our tickets, which I appreciate. Exceptional service, would definitely like to be served by her again in the future.
The cook Claire made my omelette exactly as I wanted it, and the pancakes were cooked through, but not overcooked. Kudos to her for doing such a great job! Also, this is oft neglected but cooks always appreciate tips as well, so if you particularly like the food just remember who...
Read moreWe went to our Perkins in New Ulm, MN tonight around 9p.m. on August 22nd. We were there for a friends birthday and there were six of us. Dillon was our waiter that night and he was the absolute best. He brought out a chocolate muffin for the birthday girl and handled our group exceptionally well. The only reason I didn't give this review 5 stars is because of the host, Patrick. He rang up all five members of our party but was condescending during the process. He threw the promotional guest appreciation cards at us, which did not make us feel appreciated at all. One of my friends paid with card and was trying to calculate the tip out and total for our wonderful host Dillon, but Patrick started badgering and rushing my friend to hurry up and just write down the total. The only time Patrick did stop acting rudely was at the end of our transaction when the Assistant General Manager came out to the register. It was bizarre and we were all...
Read moreOur waitress dropped a whole plate of syrupy pancakes on my father in law who sits in a motorized wheelchair. While the waitress did come to apologize and bring a wet washcloth, she ignored our table, not refreshing drinks at all, for the duration of our stay. The manager never came to talk to our table and the bill came to us with no meals comped!! My father in law had sticky syrup, whipped topping and sprinkles from his shoulder, down his chest, on his pants (even dripping into his pockets), on the buttons of his motorized wheelchair and dropping right down to his wheels! It's poor customer service for the manager not to show her face at our table and not to offer a discount! *Update: I understand the waitress was very apologetic, we do not blame her. We feel it was bad form for the manager to not come to our table. We are thankful for the discount, but should have been discounted before the bill arrived...
