Overall too pricey for the quality of food. We got to Tavern 507 around 7 on a Saturday night and were excited to try a new place. The place wasn’t too busy either. The hostess cleaned off the table and wiped it but missed some Mac n cheese from a kids meal on the table. No big deal. The server got our drink order, brought the drinks and took our food order and brought us the bill and that’s all we saw of her. The duck wontons were supposed to have bacon, duck, and corn but it was all very scarce. Wontons should have cream cheese, but to have corn, bacon, and duck you would think would warrant a better balance of ingredients. There were only 5 wontons and it cost $15, the same price as the burger. My boyfriend got the Kapow burger and it was overdone and there wasn’t much seasoning to the seasoned sour cream. I ordered the Mac and cheese and it was grainy like the cheese wasn’t added slowly and stringy like it wasn’t cooked long enough. The breadcrumbs and parsley that topped the Mac and cheese added the most flavor. The breadstick that came with it was clearly frozen before and didn’t taste like much. Cost of the food was too high for the quality. The cocktail menu was pretty much all whiskey...
Read moreThe menu was smaller than most other restaurants in town, but the options were unique and the food was great! We had cheese curds for an appetizer (10/10!) smash burgers, and the margherita flatbread. The side of chips were a bit blah, but if you upgrade to the fries they were VERY good. The smash burgers actually come with 2 patties, they were much bigger than anticipated and super messy just as a smash burger should be! One person in our group said the margherita flatbread was the best they've ever had which says a lot. The cheese curds come in big squares with a side of marinara and they were delicious, I would say they rank up there with some of the best we've ever had, and were more than enough to split between 3 people. A few kinks to work out as they train staff, the appetizer came so quickly but then the food did take a little while (not terribly long though!). A few little special requests for sauces and things that were missed, but certainly no big deal at all. The cocktails were good too, and reasonably priced! (Most of the specialty ones were between $5-$7 which is much more affordable than other places in town). We will...
Read moreStopped in for lunch. Had a burger and ordered a pizza to go to heat up for dinner that night. Server Kallie did a great job-friend, quick and efficient. Burger and fries was ok. Bun was toasted which is nice but a little too toasted! Burger was nicely done and they were able to replace the cheddar with pepper jack cheese for me. Fries are a little thick which is OK but I like them crunchy and crisp and harder to do with fat fries. Overall a decent price for a burger.
Problems, however, with the to go pizza. I requested (and saw server write down) I didn’t want it cut (since I was going to heat at home later (and we like pizza well done) so it’s better to have it uncut. Also asked if it could be put on parchment paper so it didn’t stick to the box and to make it easier to slide off the box. I even said they were free to undercook. They ignored all three requests, making it more difficult and frustrating that night when we went to finish cooking.
So great job on service, good job on burger, below average job on...
