I originally gave it a 1 star because their phone doesn't work but I am editing my review after our first visit. Overall an excellent experience. I love their soup bases. The soup base was thick, delicious, and full of herb/spices. We got the suggested half mala spicy and half coconut chicken. The spicy side had fresh spices full of flavors. It was spicy and "ma" and the aroma was powerful and addictive. The coconut had slices of dried coconut in the broth along with succulent chicken pieces. The coconut provided a nice aftertaste but it was not overly sweet or bland. The soup tasted like it was simmered for many hours (very rich and full of collagen). I think I could have drank the coconut chicken soup as is. This was one of the best soup bases I've had in awhile (same level as Haidilao or maybe even better). Maybe because this is still a fairly new hot pot buffet, the service was (still) very attentive. There were about 1 server taking care of 2-3 tables. They were constantly checking on us, helping us cook our shrimp paste, changing our plates, etc. They actually read our reservation requirement!! Nice smiles and very professional compared to Xiang. The service is very comparable to the Haidilao experience we had in Singapore (Non NYC service). Food arrived accurately and at a good pace. They did not "hide" the crabs/seafood from us or avoid us altogether like Xiang hotpot does. Comments on the actual food: There was a good selection of seafood but it was definitely not as big or fresh as Xiang's seafood. They will need to get a better distributor BUT at the least the seafood came every time we ordered it so it does balance out. The conch was cut up too small that it keeps disappearing in the soup. It really is a waste, I do suggest cutting it bigger. They offered a lobster or sashimi so we opted for the lobster. The lobster was very fresh and close to 1.5 lbs (love it). The shrimp paste was one of the best i have tried before served with dragon fruit or water chestnut. I strongly suggest it. There was also a selection of razor clams, stone crab, snow crab, conch, live shrimps, etc. The meat on the other hand is much better than Xiangs. Chong Qing Wharf offered a variety of premium cuts and they were SUPER fresh and marbley. They offer better beef than Xiang did. Decor was modern and new nothing spectacular with tables and private booths spaced far enough apart. Served unlimited sodas, Snapple, water and bottled soy milk. The sauce bar is the best/largest/most sanitary I have seen in this city. Condiments were all fresh/sauces were enclosed in large dispensers. .5 point deducted is due to the restaurant not picking up the phone and no birthday specials/desserts. Note: they take their 2 hours very seriously as there is a timer on their tablet. They will remind you to pay the bill upon the 2 hour limit. Love how you can reserve online and it tells you how many people are in front of you. Otherwise, it is a 5 stars restaurant. ...
Read moreWe’ve been here before and had great experience in the past as a couple. But the last time we went with my family it was a horrible experience. The food as usual was good and no problem but the service was terrible and degrading. It was awkward because my in laws are just trying to eat but the servers kept rushing us. The service was slow yet they wanted to rush us when they didn’t get food out on time. They sent like 4-5 people to try to rush us out (they only gave us 2 hours but they were already rushing us buy the 1 hour 30 minute mark. Mind you we are a party of 5) That’s NOT a lot time for a group. Near the end we were just walking out with our opened drinks and they still warned us that they will charge us for the drinks that we are already in the middle of drinking. Bro for like $60 per person totaling to $300 plus our $100 in tips, and we hardly got much food and time to eat and they still were nickeling and dime-ing for the open cans of .50 cent soda that we were about to walk out with 🤦🏻♀️
Omg also they just let a kid throw up or hack (or some kind of gagging) in a bowl on the floor right next to us, and the worker just took the bowl and kept it next on the shelf that RIGHT next to us. The place had a gross bathroom pee smell in the booth. Ugh it was disappointing because I literally was raving about this place to my family and friends, but had the worst experience this time. I don’t think I’ll...
Read moreChong Qing Wharf Hot Pot is an AYCE hot pot restaurant that offers fresh foods from meats to sashimi to seafood to veggies, a great variety of unlimited drinks and most of all, excellent service!
We simply joined their waitlist on Google Maps and waited for their phone call that our table was ready. We haven't come for a long time but upon arriving, Tammy greeted us and immediately remembered us! And most special of all, she remembered our Baby! ❤️ Shows how much they value their customers 😊
We enjoyed all the different food options including fruits, meats, sashimi, seafood, veggies and desserts. They give you an option after you're seated between lobster, geoduck or a sashimi platter. Their price is more expensive compared to other AYCE hot pot places but we appreciate the freshness of their foods and the many options we can choose from.
Everyone that works here are really friendly and works very efficiently. Every time we asked for something, we got it pretty fast. Ricky was one of the few people who took care of our table and they were great! We appreciate them making sure everything was good especially with our Baby throughout our dinner. As parents, we're super happy when any place shows extra care to our Baby. We had a great experience dining here and would definitely recommend this!...
