Alfonso's Cantina — Restaurant in New York

What a pleasant surprise. We were tired of Italian food, every time you go out, every restaurant has the same menu, different name. So we took a shot in the dark and decided on this new Mexican place in the intox shopping center. We were very glad that we did. We ordered nachos for the appetizer they were delicious. I ordered the spicy shrimp which came with rice and beans and my husband ordered the steak burrito which was stuffed and delicious. Food definitely had flavor. For dessert we shared a piece of Mexican cheesecake also delicious as well as head to drinks each. The restaurant was not crowded, service was fast and friendly, atmosphere was simple enough, nothing fancy, could definitely bring the entire family to eat there. I had the mango margarita which very delicious. My husband had Jack and Coke. Both drinks were equally proportioned for alcohol. The bill was reasonable as well. 4 drinks, 2 entrees, 1 app, 1 desert under $130 is rare now days. Without the drinks included prices were reasonable. We went to Alfonso’s following my parents’ wedding for a small dinner. The service was absolutely incredible, all the servers were so attentive and friendly. They went above and beyond to create a fun and memorable experience for us. They cut and served a wedding cake and also played the wedding song for my parents. We had the best time and truly were so grateful to the servers for their attentiveness! We all loved our meals. The tacos were a hit and so were the quesadillas. I can’t say enough good things about this place . The food is made fresh and delicious. The service is top notch . The staff is friendly and polite . I have catered from them several times and it’s always a big hit . I usually go to the location in New Dorp , tonight was my first time eating at Alfonso’s Cantina and the place is beautiful . I can’t believe how spacious and lovely the decor is . So elegant and clean . This is a hidden gem in the Oakwood Rivera shopping plaza . I highly recommend trying this place for delicious cuisine .
