This was ossibly theee worst dining experience I have had. Had to wait outside in converted parking lot till my table was ready. Bear in mind that although it was a warm day, the area is near a body of water so my kids were freezing in the blustery gusts that blew through our make shift shelter. Luckily as we decided to wait in the car instead, I received a message that a table was ready. A trainee walked us to a table that was sticky to the touch from drink spills, and there was a collection of discarded drinking straw paper sleeves in the backs of our booth. All of that aside, I accep6that it was a busy day asmany families had taken the free dessert offer that Applebee's marketing had placed in public schools. (That genuis stroke was probably the only thing I appreciated from this experience because it effectively drew families enmasse, led by graduating tweens drooling over the the free chocolate lava cake) We ordered an appetizer for the table. A sampler that seemed to cater to everyones' tastes and an assortmentof beverages.... followed by our main entree items. My two kids' orders came first... before everyone else's AND also BEFORE the appetizer. Of course this presented an element of confusion. What to eat when you're suddenly presented with more choices in reverse order.... That question was quickly dispensed with because the artichoke dip tasted like fresh-out-the-freezer, Mozzarella sticks needed an Out-of-Order sign as they were Mozzarella regarding, fit for the numerous construction projects currently plaguing the Brooklyn landscape. ; Chicken wings ...Meh!!! Wait!!! I forgot the drinks!!! I think they were made my a mermaid, or someone with a connection to water... Maybe Mr.Crab himself even. They were EXTREMELY watered down and bereft of taste, like the recession had hit the supply-chain for Mojitos, and Sours I a very specific and vengeful manner. I even enjoyed the ice more despite my concern for ice-machine salmonella. Yumm!!! Not long after, I had the pleasure of trying to wash the swill down with a horribly overcooked 8oz sirloin, paired with a variety of fluorescent broccoli, that I'm sure was sprayed sneaker paint, and a mashed potatoes that was ... actually ok, but withered in its companions' features. I couldn't finish it from steak-sawing exhaustion. My wife was equally unenthused by her choice; some turfy-surfy flotsam that had been beached with Wilson, and summarily chucked on a grill for immediate consumption. Lucky table BRSSXYA!! You're the winner!!! Even my son who i nicknamed the Human Food-Vacuum, aho gives thumbs-ups to meals i know i failed; gave a thumbs-down to his Chicken Blah-Blah-Blah, and did not ask for a bag for his considerable leftovers. We should all have ordered off the Kids' Menu. You can't really sabotage Pizza,...
Read moreToday my son graduated from high school I said let's go to Applebee's and then the following week we'll go to a Korean barbecue. Being that Applebee's had and all you can eat. We knew it would be crowded though we didn't expect what happened after the we got there. There was a 20 minute wait to sit down which it wasn't bad though after 10 minutes they still didn't call and my son had to approach the host respectively. Also where we got seated we could barely fit because my family got a little meat on the bones were not over overweight but you had to push the table to get in it was just ridiculous. the ketchup was dirty I had to ask for hot water to put the utensils in the table with sticky and yes I knew It'll be crowded like I said because their were graduates that graduated that day. We waited almost 45 minutes for food I waited almost 20 minutes for water then after you eat the first batch of all you can eat servings the second batch almost took 20-25 minutes so by the time they brought the next batch I was ready to go I was like please can I have a to go box please so at that time I asked for two checks one for my son and my granddaughter because they ordered something totally different and I will pay for everyone else. He bought me to check back the check said $94 I'm like excuse me every time we got another Serving of all you can eat he charged me $15.99 when he was only supposed to charge me once and my son once. When he came back with the corrected receipt it was $59. So I was overcharged $35 and then have a nerve to ask for a $10 tip. I actually lowered the tip to five he lucky I didn't put a dollar. It was the worst experience at Applebee's at Gateway Mall. I had to actually call a couple of times the restaurant to speak to the manager on why this was happening. I understand it gets busy but no one checked up on us no one asked if we needed anything we had to keep raising our hands and waiting for a long time for someone to come to us and then when they came to the table to tend to the next family they walked right past us. This was not cool I just don't want to go there anymore and if anyone asks me how is it I'll let them know it's a risk. The Tenders were hard and tasteless not one drop of seasoning and the food was not hot the fries was old and hard the Boneless Wings wasn't too bad. The only thing good that I enjoyed there honestly was the water with lemon. They gave us to go box with no bag I'd ask for a bag I just couldn't wait to get out of there and my knees was stiffening up the table which was sitting on my whole chest it was kind of traumatizing. Oh yes the bathroom is disgusting. I know this is a long review but I had to tell my story. Just please look at your receipt before you leave any restaurant especially Applebee's at...
Read moreDear General manager and corporate manager I was very disappointed in our service today at Applebee's. Today was Mother's Day and my sisters birthday and I thought it would be a great idea to take my mother and family out to dinner. My treat of course. When we got to the front desk, the waiting period was only for an hour which was expected with a day like this, it can get busy. The time was 6:50pm. We waited patiently outside the restaurant for our turn. Than when it was time, we were seated by the waiter initialed M.M. Which was stated on our receipt but I won't write the full name out for reasons that it's on the Internet. He was very pleasant and took our order as proceeded. It was 7:51pm when we placed our order. We waited.... Waited... And Waited........ At 8:19 our waiter did not stop by to check on us. We still wait patiently for our order to be served but still absolutely nothing, not even a signal as if they forgot about our table. Our patience wore thin and my family and I were flustered at the situation. At 8:32pm our waiter finally approached us and apologized about the wait and said it would be coming in 5 minutes. Soon after, another worker who looked like a manager in stripped shirt and larger figure approach our table and told us with a very fast heist "sorry only a few minutes". No direct eye contact was present. As I clocked our wait, the time was 8:41 and I knew my family was upset at this point and put me in a very embarrassing situation. I wanted nothing but good service but with poor management did not help with the service at hand but instead ignored is completely after this point. I can't really blame the waiter so much simply because I work in a largely known restaurant in times square myself as shift manager and one manager from another manager, this was highly unacceptable and should have been handled differently. I am appalled that we had to pay full price to a service that was not up to par. I saw two seated people from another table finish there food before and we still weren't served. Overall I rate this restaurant 1 star for poor management & poor quality food. By the time the food came to us, it was not to my liking. My steak wasn't medium well to standards and my food was mushy and cold. I will not be coming back here again and will not recommend further service to your store location and unprofessional...
