On November 4, I was there with my father and sister for a lunch. I ordered the grilled chicken with two sides the mashed potatoes and coleslaw. Half way through my meal, I took a forkful of the coleslaw and bit into something hard. I quickly spit it out on to a napkin and I was shocked to see what looked like a type of insect. Either a wasp or some type of insect with a black head, black body and wings. I couldn't believed what I just chewed on. My tongue started to hurt and it became red. My family were disgusted and called the waiter over. He saw what I showed him and he was shocked too. He went to get the manager. The store manager wasn't in at the moment so the kitchen manager came out to us and told me he doesn't know how this would have happened. He told me the coleslaw isn't made fresh there. It comes in containers from outside vendors. He proceeded to take my name and number and would tell the store manager when he arrives so he can call me to see how I am. We left the restaurant. I was so upset and shocked, my tongue was in excruciating pain so I went to the urgent care nearby. The doctor told me my blood pressure was very high at the moment. Which I can understand because I was feeling very anxious. He gave me an antihistamine to take in case of any allergy. I'm very disappointed with the restaurant's way of handling this situation. The store manager never called that evening to see how I was feeling after that dreadful experience at his restaurant. As of matter of fact no one has reached out to me since. As a customer who has dined at Applebee's for many years and to have this type of bad experience happened. No one can take the time to reach out and acknowledge what happened really says a lot about...
Read moreSimply horrible! Service was bad, food subpar and just plain hot.
Usually, I love to give great reviews in any place that I go to but this was by far the worst experience or rather an inconvenience. Server Leoangelo our server didn’t bring water or table setting till we got our food, when this should have been at the table, table was extremely sticky as if no one wiped the tables, excuse that was given was that “we use a cleaner since covid that cause some build up on the table!” I seriously believe that was just an excuse. Coffee was cold had to have server take it back and reheat by which it was scolding hot when it came back( like the scene from Dungeons and Dragons Hugh Grant scene with his Tea being hot) Food order except for mine came out on time but my steak bowl was the last meal to come out; by that time I simply asked to place it in a takeout box, by which I was given a small take out box that I needed two to store my food. Not to mention it was getting very warm at the restaurant as soon as more people started to come in. Also there was a server/busboy who had very long luscious locks that was just waving and flying free without a hair net. I know at this point I am sounding like an old prude and a Karen but, I’ve always known servers or kitchen help to wear some sort of hair net. At this point, I do see that Applebee's at throggs neck might be closing down soon or workers are not happy with their work cause it shows. Management might want to do a revamp retrain or rehire or just start anew. I think it’s time for that Applebees to sing...
Read moreThis is the absolute worst Applebees location out there. I went there with my family as a party of 7 (5 adults and 2 kids) and the host at the door had the nerve to say “YOOO!” when we told them our party size. They turned to one of the waiters and said “you want to take them?” And the waiter said “nah don’t give them to me” and they both were going back and forth about who was going to serve us who “wasn’t going to get overwhelmed” seemingly taking a shot at one of their coworkers but this whole conversation was happening right in front of us. They sat us down at a table while we continued to go ignored by at least 3 servers who just kept passing our table without any type of acknowledgement. We even saw another table looking around trying to get someone to service them until they decided to just walk out. My last straw was when i saw the 3 servers who kept passing our table huddled in the corner and looking our direction trying to figure out who was going to serve us and whatever silly game they decided to play to make this decision, the “loser” of the bet was made obvious when they let out a groan and looked in our direction while the other two laughed. I couldn’t believe the audacity and the disgusting display of behavior from every single person in that restaurant. Not a single manager in sight which is usually the case from the times i have come here. Yall gotta do better for such a high volume area. Needless to say I will never bring my family back here again. Sad and beyond...
