Bedford Cafe — Restaurant in New York

The attitudes of the staff( day and night) is disgusting. You have to deal with Tony nasty attitude at night and then you have Sergio and the other short Mexican guy with attitudes in the day time. What I noticed is that, those nasty disrespectful staff are only behaving that way towards people of color(blacks). Their attitudes are very unwelcoming, they act like you are bothering them, they act like their annoyed that you came into the restaurant, they act like they don’t see you standing there waiting to order, they talk in their language(Spanish) not knowing that you understand all the racist comments their making about you. I was the next one to order, the little short Mexican guy see me in the front of the line, he asks “whose next” while looking over my shoulder. The cook in back is being warned so he’s looking directly at you while he in a closed off space in the back, making your food so now you don’t know if their spitting in the food or putting something in it. I stopped calling because they memorized my number so I noticed that they wouldn’t pick up the phone for me and when they chose to answer, they would put me on hold for 20 mins or more. One time I waited outside and I called just to see if they were really busy and guess what..they were not. If you go to sit down in the back, they will act like they don’t see you sitting there. I’ve spoken to the son of the owner( Mike) on several occasions and I wonder if he ever spoke to any of them or is he just pretending to be paying attention because nothing has changed. Every time I go there, a black persons is upset and complaining about how they were treated. I shouldn’t feel like I can’t go into a restaurant that’s in my community where I live and have been living for years. This is 2019, not 1920s, if they are racist and don’t want black people in the restaurant then go somewhere else or post a sign stating “ no colored allowed”. They will come across the wrong person one day. People deserve respect! The saddest part of it all is that their black too, just conquered by different people. Signs of racism st Bedford Park Diner and the food is excessively expensive for a community of the low to middle class. I now go to Kingsbridge Cafe next to the supermarket and across from the animal hospital, it’s cheaper but they also have a few nasty people in there too( Mexicans). Guess they have a problem with people of color. Be mad at trump, not us🙄. People need to stand up and speak up, this has to stop. I will report to 311 and use every resource I can to bring attention to this Diner since they think their untouchable and they can treat people any type of way. Horrible. The cashier asked me to pay prior to eating. Big mistake. When I was done eating, someone came to take my plate when I was still enjoying my beverage, the waitress came over for the FIRST time in 26 min. She didn't ask if I enjoyed my food, would like to order anything else (upsell) or even refreshed my water. She rudely asked me to move to either the bar or another table because "there was a party of four". Greedy and rude. I was on my cellphone. Once, people pay you heard them out like cattle not mention that I was the only Black woman in the restaurant. Two single older white males were also dining alone and neither were approached with the same request. I received absolutely no hospitality or customer service. I was there 25-30 min and not a soul helped me order more food or drink or checked the quality of the offerings. This was my first experience and last. They will not receive another cent of my money. I ordered the California omelette and the avocado was a cooked lifeless mushy texture. The food was under-seasoned. The toast was slightly burnt but edible. Drinking water was the best part of the meal which was rudely interrupted.For $9, and the humiliation of being "selected" to leave your dining area for a larger party, it's not worth the trouble or money. Inform your customer that there will be a wait rather than rushing existing patrons out. When I entered I was told to sit wherever I was comfortable, since it was not crowded then. Had management provided proper customer service with a waitress to escort me to my table and take my order, the problem could've been prevented. Although the service is quick, the service and quality are abhorrent. I will not waste my time with this place again and you should think twice...

I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM HERE AGAIN. STOPPED BY FOR A UBER EATS PICK UP ORDER . UPON ARRIVAL THE CASHIER WAS ALREADY GOING BACK IN FORTH WITH A TABLE IN WHICH THE CUSTOMER WAS ALREADY TELLING THE CASHIER “ I DONT WANT TO ARGUE , I JUST WANT TO PAY FOR OUR MEALS AND GO “ I WAITED BY THE FRONT COUNTER FOR OVER 5 MINS BEFORE THE CASHIER EVEN SPOKE. WHEN HE DID SPEAK ( SHORT , HEAVY SET OLDER SPANISH MALE ) THE FIRST THING HE ASKED ME WAS “ WHAT DID I WANT “ I SHOWED HIM THE ORDER ON MY PHONE AND HE THEN SAID “ CANT YOU SEE THE UBER ORDERS ARE DOWN THIER AT THE OTHER END OF THE COUNTER “ I WOULDN'T HAVE KNOWN THAT CAUSE THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME AT THIS DINER . I PROCEEDED TO GO CHECK OUT ORDERS TO SEE IF MINE WAS SITTING THIER , IT WAS. I GO TO PICK UP MY ORDER THE SAME MAN IS NOW STANDING EXTREMELY CLOSE TO ME AND GRABBED THE ORDER OUT OF MY HAND “ YELLING THAT I NEEDED TO CONFIRM THE ORDER “ I ONLY HAD THE ORDER IN MY HAND FOR LESS THAN 30 SECONDS I DIDNT EVEN GET A CHANCE TO CONFIRM THE ORDER . THIS HAPPENED EARLY THIS MORNING ON 8/20/25 . I CALLED THE STORE AT 10 THIS MORNING TO REPORT THE ISSUE AND WAS GIVIG THE RUN AROUND BY BOTH AN MALE EMPLOYEE WHO ANSWERED THE PHONE, ALSO THE FEMALE MANAGER ON DUTY THIS MORNING HUNG UP ON ME WHEN I REPORTED TO HER. I DONT APPRECIATE THIS AT ALL. WHEN I TOLD THE CASHIER LAST NIGHT I NO LONGER WANTED ME ORDER HE SAID “ ITS NOT HIS PROBLEM AND TO CONTACT UBER OR MANAGER ABOUT IT “ IVE CONTACTED BOTH THE RESTAURANT AND UBER TO NO AVIL OR REAL HELP...
