So bad.
It pains me to write this bc I live in the neighborhood and want businesses here to succeed, but this one is not long for this world I fear.
My daughter and I had 2 fish tacos, one bean and cheese taco, an order of guacamole and chips, and a Corona. $35.
The Corona was fine.
This is the kind of place that has 10 fillings (everything from chorizo to falafel) and you can get any of them as a taco or a quesadilla or a burrito, etc. Not exactly an authentic Mexican concept, but whatever.
I wanted to like this place but everything we ordered sucked.
Fish tacos: cold rubbery tortilla. Standard cabbage slaw (too abundant). A spicy chipotle mayo with a cloying one-dimensional flavor that had nothing to do with Mexican cuisine (you could sloppily make this flavor at home with nothing but mayonnaise and chili powder), and it smothered the whole dish.
Black bean and cheese taco: dry. Same rubbery cold tortilla. A somewhat flavorless smattering of black beans. Cheese? None that I could see, unless you count the dusting of cotija that was almost but not quite present in my mouth. Overall however, this dish was the best of the evening because it was just boring, not offensive.
Our $9 guacamole appetizer: huge chunks of purple onion. Too many and too big. It was very poorly constructed guacamole. Crassly made. Do other people like this? On top of the onion problem, it was salted. Over-salted. Why put any salt on guacamole? Can’t fresh avocados and lime juice do the job? I don’t remember ever tasting guacamole in my entire life and saying “mmm, salty.” But there it was. It’s like they let the dishwasher be the cook tonight.
The fact that it was 7pm on a Friday and the place next door was packed but there was nobody sitting at this place should have been all I needed to see. I was in the mood for Mexican food, so we went...
Read moreThe food wasn't "bad" in all honesty. But it's just bad in comparison to other Tacobowl spots. I ordered a burrito with shrimp, and had absolutely no shrimp inside of it. The burrito was filled with rice and beans, no shrimp at all.
The people I arrived at the table with were disappointed as well. One ordered a shrimp enchilada, it was filled with cheese, and once again had little to no shrimp.
Another ordered a Cuban sandwich with soup, which was once again lackluster and underwhelming in terms of taste and presentation.
The final member of my table ordered Falafel Bowl. He didn't like the Falafel, as it was worse in quality to spots like Cava, but he liked the chicken, rice, and lettuce.
To summarize, it was a disappointing experience. The waitress didn't check on us a single time. The only unique thing about this restaurant was the fact that they were playing The Boys (lol) on the TV.
Other than that, it was worse than most other Taco bowl spots like Taco Bees, Cava, and most notably Chipotle.
TLDR: Could be better. Would've much rather went to another...
Read moreDO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. Terrible delivery, the driver drove away with our food by the time we reached downstairs, and then they cancelled the order. We even contacted the driver saying we were on the way down. No more than 2 mins total, after they also ignored our delivery instructions and complained about no parking… in nyc. Yet they were also double parked by the door and just couldn’t be bothered to leave their white Range Rover and buzz like instructed I guess? We saw them from the window so don’t play dumb. When someone in our group reordered from the restaurant, they let the order process and update for an hour, never arrived. After contacting them they said the driver refused to deliver because we never met him to receive food?? Then told us “yea no food for you, sorry”. What an absolute joke. Extremely unprofessional and childish service. Do not order from...
