I’ve been a client with 100 grand barbershop for over a year. Prior to starting working with Jawneh, I was an frequent client of Gee who is beyond talented and timely. Over some time I was impressed about the concept of men units and was invited to try it out for free! At first, I was very skeptical and didn’t want to do it because of lack of information. When I first received it, I loved it! and kept coming each month for a new unit. I helped facilitate the growth and awareness of men units with the 100 grand barber shop, even went as far and helped her with the classes. The downside of Barber Baddie or Jawneh was very unprofessional, not on time and not consistent with the styling. As of recent I got a cut to prepare for an interview and Jawneh accommodated which I was elated and paid $200 an extra $50 on top which i am happy to pay and more for the right style. m That day I was extremely tired as I work a full time job as a corporate executive. I trusted her with the end result and wrapped up the hair and went home. When I went home I texted Jawneh letting her know that the unit wasn’t the style I was accustomed to. She immediately became defensive and filled with intense emotions. Texting me back and saying she doesn’t want to be my barber and I am hard to please. Mind you, this is the very first time I had provided constructive criticism. I was appalled and confused as I didn’t want a freebie but wanted to inform her for the next visit I would like to keep the same hair style. It’s a unit and it must be the same if you going to do it, especially for me who is in front of people everyday. My problem, she lacks consistency and her behavior is not one of an owner. She was very condescending and mentioned to me that I should grow hair and she doesn’t have to pay for hair because she has real hair. Are you kidding me??? I wouldn’t recommend Baddie Barber or Jawneh due to this. If you are looking for a mediocre unit, feel free but if you are also looking for service for the money you are paying - don’t look this way. Again, our relationship started off well but started to see true colors as the money is the motive - which is fine but clients should be treated with respect. I would suggest pay more for the service and consistency! She emotionally attacks people and not hair positive by calling individuals insecure. Lastly, I don’t trust her integrity and I have several examples of bad experiences and simply telling stories or lies. I would only suggest shape ups and haircuts...
Read moreWhen Juan randomly came across my Instagram feed last week, I booked an appointment with him right away. I knew the shop's location because I support other businesses in the area, but I had never gone inside. The atmosphere and overall decor was positively "high-value". Juan was super cool, and I met the lovely owner. Surprisingly, I had been following her on either Booksy, or The Cut app! My haircut was beyond my satisfaction and I received several compliments while out and about over the weekend. I will definitely be going back to see Juan for my next haircut, and I'm happy to support a Black-woman owned barbershop in Brooklyn. I can feel comfortable getting my hair cut in a professional environment without inappropriate substances or language being used...
Read moreYanay cuts both of my son’s hair. She is an excellent barber. She takes her time and express patience with my youngest. He moves and slides down in the sit during his hair cut. She always kind to him. She makes him feel comfortable and ease his tension. I would recommend her shop to mom’s with younger kids. The environment is not ratchet. The other barbers are very mindful that kids and women visit as well. So the conversation is always respectable. Thanks...
