pretty good spot for comfort food. We came on a Sunday and we got seated immediately. The waitress was the only person behind the counter but she did a good job of managing all the people in the restaurant.
The space is a little dark on the inside but they have three tables by the windows. Mostly tables with seating for 4, but there were a couple with seating for 2. I don't really recommend using the bathrooms.
I got the salmon with onions and peppers with a scrambled egg and home fries. I don't recommend the home fries (next time I'll try the grits), i asked for them extra crispy and they were just boiled potatoes fried on one side. The salmon was all cut up and mashed with the onions and peppers, with some browning- still delicious- and I added hot sauce to them for a bit more flavor. The scrambled eggs were well made and I was able to get wheat toast- try it with the pancake syrup it's delicious. M got the beef bacon which is pretty tasty, I ate it with the home fries to give them some flavor. The coffee was actually really good! it was pretty simple diner coffee but didn't need cream or sugar and was smooth. I recommend this - and a number of people were getting iced coffee too which I guess is something to try here.
all in all, a pretty solid spot and it seemed like a good number of people from the neighborhood come here. I would say the food is pretty cost effective too, you could get the eggs and some meat and toast for about $5 - so a nice big breakfast wouldn't...
Read moreStay away from this place. How is it possible to f up breakfast?? I ordered coffee, 2 scrambled eggs, toast (didn’t have rye???), potatoes and bacon. I got 2 runny eggs, wheat toast (he did tell me) and horrific turkey bacon!! When I asked what was on my plate he told me turkey and that they don’t cook pork there!! That’s fine bro but you have to tell me that it’s going to be turkey bacon and not freaking real bacon. I didn’t touch the turkey and sat there for 30 minutes. The guy never came to ask if I wanted a refill of coffee?? Now get this, I was the only person in the place!!!!!!! No joke but now I know why. The dude was like I’ll only charge you $15!!!! I was livid and he told me the turkey was $5!!!
I’ve been eating in diners for the better part of 50 years. This place was the absolute worst.
I couldn’t care less about $15. It’s the principle.
Lesson learned. Don’t eat in a 100% empty diner! Apparently I was the only person in Fort Greene who didn’t...
Read moreThe atmosphere is nice. It’s in the heart of Fulton St. the service was OK as well. The waitress was sweet and respectful. The food was not something that I enjoyed. I ordered French toast with Turkey bacon and cheese eggs. The French toast wasn’t very flavorful and the eggs came without any cheese. When I brought it to the waitresses attention she gave me a cold slice of cheese. I suppose she did the best she could and I am still appreciative of the service she provided. I thought the price for the slice of cheese was high as well, as she charged me $3. I was also surprised by the almost $12 gratuity fee. When I asked her what the fee was for she showed me on the back of the menu in fine print which stated all tables will be charged the fee. Once she explained this, I had no problem paying but it would be nice for them to print those words bigger and put it on the front of the menu instead of hiding it in the back. I would not come back here...
