Happy this is finally on the map after years. Longtime resident, complaints unheard, unaddressed. Dog run was built between 2 residential buildings affecting quality of life. The dog run was built directly under bedrooms. Run is not patroled, monitored. Hours recently posted, and large loud dogs are barking before 6 a.m. and well after 10 p.m. as late as 2 a.m. on Sunday nights, reports to building management unanswered. 311Noise complaints did not register because the park could not be located in the directory. If dog owners or any attendees of NYC Parks (Fort Greene, Prospect Park, etc.) attended after dusk, they were subject to arrest, and were arrested, a truth witnessed during years working in the Courts. Original plans for the grounds never included dog runs, which would have determined apartment selection. Now, WE that live here, elderly, disabled, included, pay a pretty penny for our homes. We are disregarded and are at the mercy of neighbors who visit the dog run at all hours of the night with the echoes of loud barking reverberating between our high rise buildings. Never saw any law enforcement attend. This park is pretty and so are many of the dogs. A gunshot victim died in recent weeks at its entrance around 10:30 p.m. on a weeknight. There are sections of vacant land where the dog runs could be moved. The dog runs should be changed back to children play areas and add additional picnic dining. We suffered through the construction noise of the installation of 2 buildings for years during the pandemic, and then now, someone decided to put the loudest most disturbing dog run underneath bedrooms and living quarters without security or enforcement. I've never witnessed an officer in the park, at any hour, in the 2 years park was reconstructed (except for the shooting victim), and the precinct is one...
Read moreI used to love bringing my dog here, but over the past year this dog run has completely gone downhill. There’s been a noticeable increase in unpleasant interactions with irresponsible dog owners who refuse to control or recall their dogs. Some bring aggressive dogs and do nothing to de-escalate situations, which makes the space feel unsafe and stressful.
It’s a shame, because this could be such a great neighborhood spot for socializing dogs — but I’ve lost all trust in the environment and the owners who frequent it. On top of that, the dog run is poorly maintained and often smells before you even reach it.
I won’t be bringing my dog here anymore, and I hope this serves as a warning for other dog owners. A quick look on Reddit shows multiple reports of similar issues, so it’s clearly not an...
Read moreThis dog run is a public health hazard. Dog owners let’s their dogs pee and poop all over grass areas and all landscaped areas despite numerous signs everywhere that say it is prohibited. The trash cans are overflowing with dog shit and there is pee stains all over. There is a playground with kids close by. There is an area designated just for dogs. Owners need to respect the rules so that others can also enjoy the park too without their kid stepping in dog shit. Prospect park is a giant space where dogs can run wild and poop before 9am. Go there...
