Ok so...
I've been going to Divino's for years. I've sent many customers there as well. Yesterday I went to have dinner with my young daughter and we had a VERY unpleasant experience.
When we walked in a very nice gentleman in the pizzeria area immediately took my order. I then asked him if my daughter and I could sit down. He politely said yes, so we went and sat down. At this moment in time I did not pay yet as I was waiting for my food and no one rang me up. So I walked my daughter to the table and then I went to the bathroom. When I came out of the bathroom, the food was placed on my table. At this point everything was fine. We ate, picked up our food and got up to pay after (as many pizzerias in the area allow this). I went to pay the cashier, and a man whom was not wearing any shirt that said DiVinos came up to me and was shouting at me. I was quite confused who he was as he did not greet me and say hello or calmly ask a question. He immediately starts shouting, "WHO SERVED YOU??!!" I was quite taken back and so was my child as this was very unprofessional and not the tone you should use when speaking to a woman and her child. He then continued to ask "who served you?" on repeat and LOUDLY. The restaurant had people in so this some what caused a scene and I was embarrassed. The man continued to ask us (as I did not respond immediately as I was repulsed but how loud and rude he was as if I did something wrong. I was unsure if this was an employee or a random person yelling at me.) The man who served then came forward to the other man expressing that he had served us. I then realized that this was the owner/boss/manager and he began to yell at the employee in front of everyone. I clearly heard what was said and the cashier TRIED to reassure me that he did not get in trouble. I FELT HORRIBLE. My young daughter and I both heard the owner yelling at the man about how we have to pay first, and as a professional I totally understand that payment is first, however his mannerisms were very unprofessional and rude. The way he scolded me and his employee has made me never want to return. This could have been handled a million different ways, as we were paying in the moment and not stealing any food from him. The cashier is also responsible because she did not ask me to pay when I walked out of the bathroom. Unfortunately my child now feels fearful to come into DiVino's and I will no longer be providing them with my business. This rude behavior amongst customers and employees is HIGHLY UNACCEPTABLE. The manager could have waited for us to leave, he could have spoken calmly to me and introduced himself. I think it says enough if my CHILD can express to me that the owner was very rude to me and his worker.
Sadly after years of doing business with them, they will never receive another penny from me, my...
Read moreIn this day and age, a good business flourishes not just because of what they sell but also and most importantly, of exceptional service. Sure people will remember how great your ‘chicken parm’ is but especially in modern society, people will remember more how you treated them and what kind of service you provided (or lack thereof). With this said, I have never in my entire life have dined anywhere (or been anywhere, really) where not only was there NO SERVICE of any kind but also, felt incredibly and undeniably UNWELCOMED. After careful observation and paying attention to what was happening around, it was very clear to me that this restaurant and the people that are working in it are a bunch of RACIST human beings. I watched them take care and service all the other tables around me (mind you, it was SLOW with only 4-5 tables taken) while they kept ignoring me. I did try to speak up regarding the service to one of the guys making the pizza- he came back a few minutes later and said he talked to the manager and that this manager is going to address this particularly to the only waiter that was there after his shift. AFTER HIS SHIFT? No, what you need to do Dear Manager (and at this point I honestly don’t even understand how you became one cause clearly you are incapable of meeting the utmost needs of your job) is to go up there and let your people know IMMEDIATELY so they may remedy the situation. And what you need to do is COME OUT and apologize and you yourself handle the situation so that it may not get out of hand and by doing so ensures that your customers are happy and satisfied. And to make matters worst, we were being handed the check in the middle of our meal as if we already weren’t made to feel unwelcomed. What truly bothers me and what I cannot fathom is that I was in there with my sweet, innocent little 2 year old and the fact that they were doing this and being undoubtedly exclusive and unimaginably being racist is beyond me. Regardless of what your beliefs are, how could anyone treat innocent young children so inhumanly?? NO, SERIOUSLY THATS A LEGITIMATE QUESTION. So after all of this, I’ve come to the conclusion that this place and everyone employed in it gives no regard to families or small children for as long as you are a person of color. Trust me New York when I say - THIS ISN’T the only place you can get Pizza. So if you have a family or kids (small or not) or even if it’s nieces, nephews, cousins or basically if you have strong family views and you believe in JUST BEING A GOOD HUMAN BEING and treat everyone kindly — STAY AWAY FROM DIVINO PIZZERIA. Supporting them means NOT supporting what just mentioned above. What a joke of...
Read moreBeing a frequent customer who always took friends and family here, I was really disappointed with the way my husband and I were treated today 11/17/21. As soon we walked in we weren’t greeted but instead asked if we have a COVID vaccine card? This is not an issue because we have a vaccination card but it was the way it came over. I barely got the card out of my purse when the young lady said “ok fine”.We also noticed no one else was asked about a vaccination card before being seated. We were told to pick a seat and sat for about 20 minutes waiting for someone to come over to us. The restaurant had only about 3 other tables occupied so I know it wasn’t because they were busy. While waiting for our server, a young man came rushing pass us and literally threw plates on our table without even stopping. We were taken aback by that but it got worse when he did the same thing with a basket of bread that ended up almost falling off the table after he tossed it. We tried to remain cool and laughed it off saying maybe he’s having a day but then we noticed him speaking to other customers and standing up while giving them them their bread/orders. This offended us. We decided to leave after 20 mins when we noticed more customers coming into the restaurant, not being questioned about their vaccination cards, being seated, given water and having their orders taken after we’ve been sitting there for 20 mins! We loved this restaurant but this left a bad taste in our mouths and thinking about going back there makes me...
