Laurelton West Playground — Attraction in New York

This park is one of my children’s local favorites. It has everything you want to have a great time with the kids. It’s designed for our younger children. The water features of the park are very attractive and make it fun for the children.

Sometimes the kids run from the sprinkler a short distance to the slide. When the slide is wet it’s nothing but smiles and laughs when the kids get going.

Be careful leaving and approaching this park however. It’s situated on a one way street that has a blind curve at one end. The street is attached to the service road to the highway. On the other hand what makes this park unique is that because of its close proximity to the parkway it connects to a nice grassy foot trail along the highway. It’s perfect for walking the dog or a bike ride with the kids. The trail ends at a large hill that’s super fun in the winter and the summer!

Decent, well maintained playground with swings, on site restroom with changing table, and splash area. There are a few things at ground level for very young children to play with, though some of them need re-oiled as they’re difficult for little hands to use. There’s also well shaded benches surrounding the splash area, which is really nice on a sunny day. I really appreciate that the bathroom is clean, has soap, and has a working changing table. From a safety perspective, it’s also nice that the entire area is enclosed; especially since it’s between a highway and major road.

As for the playset itself, a child under 3 needs close supervision while playing on it. It’s one long continuous structure without a designated age range (or maybe I just didn’t see the sign?). The entrance ramps are concrete and some of the equipment isn’t safe for very young children. The splash area has a bit of a delay, but it does work.

The park offers a wide variety of rides and swings, making it a perfect play area for kids of all ages. One of the unique highlights is the opportunity to watch planes getting ready to land at JFK, adding an extra layer of excitement and wonder for both children and adults.
