Grandpa Chen Kissena Char Siu Bao — Restaurant in New York

I don’t think I’ll be returning. I am not someone who complains easily but I have to bring up this unpleasant experience for my second visit. I ordered an “iced” cold coffee milk tea and the women behind the counter unfortunately had attitude. I could accept the fact they did not ask me how much sugar I wanted. The very disappointing part was, the woman making my drinks put way too much sugar. I asked nicely for less sugar and even if she remade my drink, she wasn’t even happy about it and poured hot coffee on ice in the plastic drink and so it all melted and I might as well order a hot coffee milk tea instead. as if she’s doing me a favor when in fact, she could have asked nicely how I liked my drink to be. I would not even have brought it up if it was not too much liquid sugar she put in my initial drink. I wish I have a picture of that. but here is my so called iced drink with all ice melted since she just poured literally hot coffee tea on it., and for the pineapple charshiupao, it is fair enough good but you could find other quality places less the cost and with better service too...

Buns are warm and tasty. However the prices are double of what Golden lake pavilion /5 minute away is selling. I don't mind getting it for my inlaws and kids on a weekly basic.

But elders are complanting the waste of money due to higher price which also bring to my concern as if this place would follow the footstep of the previous scallion pancake shop.

This location has several times more locals and foot traffic for breakfast. But the demographic and purchasing power are different from the original store. So I wish you...

One of the top choice for cha siu bao and perhaps, one of the few places that does it with a good selection of crust variety. Prices are higher than those generic bakeries, but they make up for it in quality and size. Only problem i have with this place so far after several visits is their default sugar level on cold drinks being too sweet. (Not sure about hot drinks) Would recommend half sugar level if they don’t plan on changing the formula...
