This was by far the worst dining experience I have ever had at Halal Bros on 8/27/25 between about 6:30-7pm. I placed a simple order: a bowl with less rice and more salad and lamb. Not only was my order ignored, but when I repeated it multiple times, I was dismissed and brushed off by the woman plating the food, who claimed to be the manager.
Instead of correcting the mistake, she told me I would need to pay extra for salad on the side, when that is exactly what I had originally ordered. I explained that I’ve received this same order before without an issue: a small portion of rice on the side, half the bowl filled with salad, and the meat added on top. She flat-out told me, “If you wanted it the old way, you should’ve asked.”
How was I supposed to know there was a “new way”? I asked if there was a sign or notice, she admitted there wasn’t, then shifted the blame onto the cashier, saying “he should’ve told you.” Well, he didn’t. And by that time, my meal was already paid for. Her solution? Pay more money for something I had already requested. I refused.
The lack of professionalism, complete disregard for the customer, and unwillingness to fix a very basic mistake was shocking. This was not only terrible customer service, it was condescending and disrespectful.
I have always enjoyed Halal Bros in the past, but after this encounter, I will not be returning. If this is how management treats loyal customers, then this location has truly...
Read moreI've worked in Manhattan for 10 years. I've sampled every halal cart during all the days and years I've criss crossed the city on my travels. I've had my favorites (halal guys is not one of them) and I've come to know some of them personally. I love this style of food. That said I no longer work in Manhattan and was sad that I wouldn't get to have this treat regularly anymore. But I saw this place open in the last year near where I live and only yesterday had the chance to stop in. And I was blown away. The chef and managers are super friendly and that reflects in the customers as well, on my first visit I was bombarded with what I had to try and I mean that in the best way possible. And what did I try? Well my first visit had be be the traditional chicken over rice. And it was divine. The rice is fluffy and bursting with aroma and flavor. The chicken was juicy and marinated perfectly. The white sauce and hot sauce blended perfectly with everything and I am now in love. This is the best I've ever had. And today I went back to try the jerk chicken recommended to me by everyone during my first visit... Oh that was a treat. Juicy with the perfect charred rub. The spice was amazing and I am very very happy. I am going to be a regular here. It's that good! Thank...
Read moreSo they don’t take phone orders as your only option is to order online. Okay, but what happens if their site is down and you can’t order online? You can call them and they will tell you they still won’t take your order over the phone because they can get fired for taking your order over the phone even if the site is down. Management needs to do better. If the site is down and you know that it will take someone 40min+ to get their food if they order in store why can’t they order over the phone if I’m already on the phone with the employee. Make it make sense!!!!!!!!
Edit: ummm I have no reason to make up that the site was down, and I know how to use technology pretty well and it wasn’t an issue on my end. It was 12:45 am on Sunday morning when your store closes at 3am according to your phone recorded message. At that time the website said they are not taking online takeout order until 11am the next day. When I spoke to the employee he said he would try to fix it and by 2am the issue was still not fixed. So instead of telling me I don’t know how to use the site, figure out what your backup plan is for when users are not able to order...
