The personnel hired at the Burlington Stores lack training, professionalism, and boundaries.
Understand Burlington is not a high end retailer and will hire individuals from backgrounds on par with that pay, but it makes ZERO sense as a woman that almost EVERY single time I have stepped into a Burlington, I have an encounter with an overly zealous, aggressive, attention seeking security personnel who lacks training and uses their positions as form of abuse and power.
My husband is an attorney that previously worked in loss prevention, so fully aware of how loss prevention works and as someone with corporate background, absolutely exhausting and humiliating to continuously have these encounters at Burlington stores.
Years ago I used to spend tons of money and time as loyalty member, but after numerous encounters and having to file complaints with corporate, stopped shopping in the Burlington stores.
When I shop in affluent, suburban areas donāt have these encounters, but when in areas where the demographics are ādifferent,ā itās GUARANTEED to be an issue.
Stopped in on Sunday, October 19 around 9 pm to see if the store had an item that I saw on the UWS in the Home Goods session.
There was a security guy at the entrance that said something (honestly not sure as just came from workout and had on headphones), but I responded āthank youā and continued into store.
You can see on camera I am actually hesitant about continuing into store because I sensed the security guy from the front of store was going to be an issue (have a psychology background also) but figured I would be in and out of store.
I wasnāt surprised when I looked and saw him following in the Home Goods session not even 5 minutes into my shopping experience.
At first I ignored it because he had NO PROBABLE CAUSE as I just walked into the store, but as I continued to make it to front of store with the 4 foot vase I selected, he continued to BLATANTLY follow me in front of store where there is no way I could possibly be doing anything criminal as there are people EVERYWHERE as well.
When I finally questioned his intent, he responded āhe was just doing his job.ā
No, I was not dressed in usual professional, business attire because was in running clothes as I just came from working out, but there is nothing about my appearance or presence that gives criminal activity.
When I asked to back off as he had NO probable cause, he continued following anyway. I am near checkout lines at this point and absolutely no reason for this type of behavior.
I am actually humiliated because I am typically very quiet, private, and reserved, but started screaming at him to back off because he was continuously violating my personal space, privacy, and boundaries.
I have also been under medical treatment for some time due to health concerns, and this situation created extra external stress, which medical providers have advised against.
I was not going to purchase the item after being followed and terrorized, so I placed the vase at check out and left the store.
My friends and family have continuously warned against my shopping in these stores and seems like no matter which locations you visit, across the board, the security staff lacks training and professionalism.
These types of encounters are not happening in other retailers so this has to be management/corporate issue.
If Burlingtonās management and corporate teams are complicit in this type of terrorizing, dehumanizing, uncouth, unprofessional behavior from employees in the workplace, then these are not safe places customers should continue spending hard earned...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe place is filthy! The dressing room color is white but all you see is holes in the walls and brown dirt everywhere. I left with my skin crawling and if I didnāt have a need for a dress for a funeral I wouldāve just left. The bathroom had tissues hanging out the tissue holder. The store is very very unorganized- reading comments of others saying this and seeing responses that they will be looking into it but thereās no way anyone is looking at this store. They have not seen a corporate visit in years! No way! Only Staff at the register, Clothes, shoes and bags everywhere and unorganized. Shoe and bag alarms going off nonstop while no one is next to them or even touching them. Is there not a visual merchandise department?? The register is slow, they are talking and they are rude. No hello, smile or bye. I worked in retail and as a former manager thereās no way Iād even want my name attached to that store. The way it looks and moves screams low hours and Iām sure if there was any real reflections they would see that itās them not making budget is why the state of the overall storeās condition is the way it is, staff not caring and lack of doing anything that makes people not want to come and spend their money. Trust and believe if the dress doesnāt work Iām just gonna loose my money because never will I ever step foot in another location because according to other location connects- different location same ish. My skin is still crawling as Iām driving...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love Burlington no doubt most of my clothes are have a big "B" on em. My only issue with THIS location Valley Stream is the selection!
I am used to huge selection but this huge store had a rather limited clothes rack in men's Dept. shirts pants ? Where did they go?
Also they Big & Tall section seemed to take prominence in terms of location.
It was very visible in the store layout. The regular old general size men's clothes ?
Off in the cut and slimmer pickings than the big boys...I mean good for the big boys I know you guys often feel left out but...
I mean we little guys shorter we get lost you gigantuans can at least SEE at higher heights and FIND your section!
I was like a mouse in a maze! It is so strange to be in such a huge store and have a regular size men's section this size of the canned good s section of the corner bodega!
Now that may be beyond Burlington's management. It was a holiday today but I means we are talking maybe 10-15 shirts for each regular size S M, L, XL, give or take a few!
Hey I can forgive just make me forget by my next visit if at all...
