I was excited to try this dim sum place and have been there twice now. First time I got the chicken feet, the bean curd with the mushroom wrap (not sure what it's officially called), tripe, and beef rice noodle. The second time, I went with a friend and tried the roast pork bun, shrimp roll, steamed pork and congee. Take home, I got the wonton noodle soup and soy sauce over rice. I liked everything I had. The roast pork bun was super fresh. Normally at Fay Da bakery, when I take a bite of the bun, it could be filled with pork and fat and that isn't appetizing for me. They were generous with the meat. The congee is on the thicker side but I like that versus it being too watery. I had my non-Asian hubby try the beef rice noodle and he surprisingly liked it! It was thick pieces vs the smaller noodles you would get at a dim sum place. Wonton noodle soup was super fresh. I enjoyed it and will be back again. I'm so glad I don't have to go into Flushing when I get a craving for dim sum. Hope this...
Read moreHappy Corner 13, finally a dim sum place in the Oakland Gardens/Bayside area. This restaurant is going through a soft opening this week, they will only have a limited menu with dim sum and congee dishes. The restaurant is opened by the same owners of Happy Garden restaurant down Bell Boulevard, they are well known in the Flushing area. Being that it is a soft opening there are bound to be hiccups here and there. I will get right to the point, the food is very average at this point. Dim sum is uninspired and lacking flavor. The one bright point was the congee(lean pork and thousand year old egg), the consistency was a bit thicker than I would of liked but all in all it was their best dish of the day. The siu mai was a bit on the lighter side bit consistency was decent enough. With that said I look forward to giving this restaurant another try when they are up and running at full capacity as the owners are not newbies to this industry. I have faith that they will find...
Read moreFound this small restaurant with rice on cray pot , just have to warn you it takes 30mins for itz but it worth the wait. I ordered pork ribs with cray pot rice and a three choice noodle with roasted duck, chiuchi (BBQ pork) and shrimp dumplings. The rice was excellent with thin crispy at the bottom without dark burn, and they gave use a full bottle of rice soy sauce that is tasteful, the pork ribs are tender and season nicely, I will recommend it but only you have time for it. All three choices are great, noodle also taste good and the texture is right. Their roasted duck is also nice, guess their BBQ stuffs are good, I watched lot of people have take out order for them. Just don't expect too much services from them, they seem...
