I tried ordering from Meat Corner II through Uber Eats in the morning. They were open at 9:30 AM, and I placed my order around 10 AM. Shortly after, a lady from the restaurant called to inform me that they wouldn't be ready until 11 AM. I asked if she could cancel my order so I could reorder at 11, but I couldn't understand her response. I checked the Uber Eats app and saw that I could cancel the order myself, so I did. I told the lady I'd try to reorder at 11.
However, by 11 AM, we had made other plans. Later in the afternoon, Uber sent me an email stating they were charging me for the order because the restaurant had already started preparing it. I was frustrated because they had called to say they wouldn't be ready until 11. I complained to Uber and got my money back in Uber Cash, which is somewhat inconvenient. This restaurant should adjust their Uber Eats opening time and lock the menu until they're actually ready, or at worst, they're being dishonest. I still don't know if the food is any good...
(Update)
It turns out an acquaintance of mine is part owner of the restaurant chain, so I was asked to give it another try.
So, I did. The char siu was kind of dry. The roast pork was good, but it's hard to mess that up. The duck was okay, and the beef with rice noodles was a very large portion but not very tasty. The owner told me that the original Meat Corner is better because Meat Corner II is run by the same staff from the previously failed store at this location. Thanks for letting me know afterwards, boss!
At best, I can only give this...
Read moreI fondly remember this place from prepamdemic. It was a great spot to get inexpensive, good cantonese roast meats. The food variety now remains with my favorites of noodles and rice and your options of roast meats. They recently expanded their opening hours into the later night so people can enjoy after work, too. The prices are still pretty decent compared to how expensive and problematic quality for roast meats can be. But their portions do feel smaller now. At night, there's not a lot of people but also not a lot of stock left. However, they seem to always have enough for that late night bowl of noodles to just satisfy a craving. Now that it's a snowy and chilly time, that is even more welcome. The ownership has changed from when it used to be King's Kitchen, and service is a bit more sparse. However, the waitress I had was very attentive and friendly. I'm glad to see this place open into the night again and I hope...
