Tried this spot out again after not having been here since they changed the name. Decided to come with a few friends to watch the football game. The bar area itself was packed, so we ended up sitting further in the back and were able to grab a table. When we asked about game day specials, we were told rather bluntly that they only start once the ball is kicked off. Thatâs fair enough as a policy, but the way it was said came off more rude than informative, which wasnât a great first impression.
As we looked over the menu, we figured out what we wanted pretty quickly and were ready to order. The problem was, our server seemed completely overwhelmed. She was running back and forth constantly between the bar and the tables, but everyone sitting at the bar seemed to be her main focus. We were sitting in the back, and it felt like we were forgotten about. For at least 25 minutes, she walked past our table multiple times without even looking our way. Eventually, we had to wave her down just to get her attention and ask if we could finally place an order.
To be fair, once she came over with her notepad she did apologize for the delay, so at least she was aware that the service wasnât up to par. After that, things smoothed out a little, but only slightly. We were never offered water, and when the food finally arrived, no utensils came with it. I tried to flag the server down, but she disappeared again, so I had to get up and find forks myself from a small counter nearby. Thatâs the kind of detail that makes the whole experience feel disorganized and frustrating.
The food itself was fine, nothing special, just typical bar food. Exactly what youâd expect, nothing more, nothing less. But the biggest issue here wasnât the food, it was the service. I donât want to put all the blame on the server, she was clearly trying but it was obvious she was juggling way too much. It looked like she was acting as the bartender, server, hostess, and overall manager of the floor all at once, which is simply too much responsibility for one person. The end result is that tables like ours got neglected, and the basics (water, utensils, timely service) were overlooked.
For a first real visit under the new name, I canât say Iâm impressed. The food is fine, but if the service isnât addressed, I donât see myself or others rushing back. That said, I am willing to give this place a second chance because I do think the core problem is staffing, not effort. My suggestion to management: hire more people, especially on busy game days, and donât leave one person responsible for three different jobs. Customers notice when service falls apart, and it overshadows...
Read moreleaving one star just because i actually enjoyed the atmosphere, food and drinks, but i was here semi recently and i didnât want to have to write this review but i want to give them the chance to correct it. Flanagan has always been a staple!! I was here recently with a few people and it took forever to get the bartenders attention, alright ok iâll give it to her, sometimes they can get busy, but it wasnât. when we finally got her attention she slurred a lot, seemed abit disoriented, i could smell alcohol comming off of her but i figured behind the bar itâs bound to happen, so i smiled acted like it was fine even tho it took over 10 mins to get her attention, i like to give the benefit of the doubt. but..WRONG. straight drinking infront of us, in and out of the bathroom, doing god knows what. and i donât want to name any names since this is online but who ever owns or manages maybe you can put 2 and 2 together, she had blondish hair some eyelashes abit sporatic i didnât bring it up at the time all and all but i mean i was completely dissatisfied, spend good bucks at flanagens and hopefully they can fix this so i can feel comfortable enough to come back and not waste my money. FYI if i wanted to get ignored all night and leave unsatisfied i wouldâve stayed home with my...
Read moreFriendly staff, an ok beer and liquor selection, laid-back atmosphere, sports friendly, but not loud enough for impartial customers to be ever a bother. A good selection of Irish themed bar foods, as long as you are not a strict vegetarian and have a minute to find something that isn't fried. But, hey, it's Irish and it's a tavern, so don't expect sissy things like diet salads. That being said, their taters are great, they use good beef and their Philly cheese steak sandwich is amazing. All in all, a cool place to hang out, grab a filling bite and down a few pints. They also have trivia nights and so forth, not to mention the regulars...
