Went here for Cinco de Mayo, made a reservation for 23 people. We arrived at 6 pm and didn’t receive a menu until we asked for one at 7:15pm. It took an hour to get our first round of drinks, we finally got food at 9 pm. But this is all expected being how busy they were and it was cinco de Mayo, but then this is where it got worse… they had a DJ and about 4 tables of people including us were all just getting food hours after waiting, and they turned on smoke machines that blew smoke right in our faces. The older adults at my table couldn’t breathe and I am pregnant and had to stop eating and take my food to go because the restaurant became filled with smoke so bad from the outside it looked like it was on fire. Why would you fill a restaurant with smoke when people are just finally getting their food? The table next to us had to go outside for air as well and they still didn’t get any food at all. All they cared about was the 15 people at the bar having a club experience rather than the 5-7 tables of people paying good money to have a nice meal. Holiday or not, I will never eat here again. The manager or whoever he was knew I was pregnant , he walked by and hit me in the head with a chair he was trying to carry above me and didn’t even stop to apologize, and he never tried to consider people eating over making it into a club scene. I used to love this place, after spending $1500 on tonight’s meal I’ll never go back. Terrible experience from start...
Read moreParty of 14 for my brothers birthday dinner at 6pm. Didn’t want to ruin my appetite so I didn’t eat all day looking forward to eat here. Arrived and quickly ordered the mezcal margarita and the best part of the evening. Margarita gets 4 stars. We ordered the calamari, chips and guacamole as starter. Calamari was bland and was like chewing on fried flour bitters. The guac needed salt, lime, and cilantro.cause it was also bland. When a Mexican restaurant can’t get the guac right says a lot about their food and a warning of what’s to come or expect. I ordered the shrimp fajita and to be honest it was decent after I added some salt cause it lacked flavor. Looking around the table and other families expression of their food they were not impressed. This establishment is a solid 3 stars but they lost another star for their service. One element I noticed here is that service, the waiter and servers were kids. I asked one of them how old he was he was and he said 16. I respect and commend kids wanting to work and establishments giving them the opportunity, but not on a Saturday night. How much experience can a 16 year have when asked for recommendations, not that I did. There were other staff that were older walking around from table to table kind off supervising. Not a place that left me wanting...
Read moreI'd seen this place around for a while now and it is quite big, with an outdoor space adjacent to the lot behind the next door lim service building. They had recently done up their exterior. The interior remains festive and lit with loud music and televisions showing sports, usually. It's a convenient location near the train stop and also right off Amboy. I came for a bite later at night after work and there were only two waiters running the floors. It wasn't empty and there were perhaps two louder parties, one at the bar and one at the tables. So service felt a little sparse. The food was mediocre but priced reasonably for the portions. It will fill you up. The gambas de ajillo were served lukewarm on a plate, contrary to how they would usually be served in hot oil. The pork skin quesadilla was filled abundantly with boiled pork skin. Do not order this if you are expecting a crunchy chicharron. The meat was well flavored, but the tortilla used was very thick. It held together well, though, and was expectedly filling. The sangria they have was a bit lacking in much punch of flavor. Overall, not a bad place to satisfy...
