Soooo many people come here and hype this place up.... I just want to know, whyyyy????? "What was the reason!" I remember when Jimmy's was on white plains road. I think I went there once or twice and it wasn't the best food option even then but a relative loved going so we went. This time a friend choose to go here for our relocation spot due to the heat The star rating is for the service and the drinks. The place was fairly empty and we were seated at a spot near the service door and wanted to move. Also it was a hot day we wanted to spread out and be comfortable. We asked if we could move and at first we were told that the table we wanted to move to was for a party of 6.... Then some other guy said yes because it was empty. They only had one table that fits a party of 6 I guess. Not to mention when walking in there were parties of 2 sitting in all the other booths I'm sure was meant for more than just two people. But okay moving on First we had the Jack Honey Mango which was good and then I switched up and asked if they can do a Piña colada and put Mango in it, which they seemed a little stumped on how to make. Then they wanted to know if I still wanted it to have alcohol.. Yes!?? I just wanted a little extra flavor lol. The food was nothing to brag about and lacked flavor, which is disappointing considering this is known to be a Spanish restaurant. The ancestors would not be pleased with those servings, just saying. Unless they only put effort into the plates of certain guests, because it looked like a good bunch of people came by and just walked in and out the back like they were part of the staff.... Maybe they were but it was a lot of door action... For food our table spread consisted of the chicharrón de pollo and coconut shrimp for appetizers, coconut french toast with coquito sauce, scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese, beef sausage links, steak de palomilla, fried egg and hash browns. On my end, for the chicharrón some parts were more bone than meat it was like they gave a good 5 of just mostly bone pieces and then like 3 pieces with meat. The Calypso sauce it came with was a good match though. I was so disappointed with the French toast. I mean majorly disappointed. The coquito sauce was like I just poured plain milk on my French toast so I had french toast con coco y leche. They overused the coconut which I guess was to cover us the dry bread. The beef sausage link seemed fine. It was beef and not pork thankfully! The eggs were scrambled, not seasoning and then cheddar cheese was just melted on top in a huge clump. For my friend she said the steak definitely needed A1 sauce and the hash browns needed ketchup salt and pepper. I don't recall how she said she liked the shrimp but she ate all of it. The waitress was fine. She thought it odd I asked for syrup and brought out extra "coquito" sauce but that wasn't fixing the French toast. I initially thought about ordering a gyro and curly fries to go but after having the main meal I knew it would have been a waste. There was a guy who cleaned up the tables and offered water who was very nice. So a star for the drinks a star for the waitress and one for the cleanup guy. Oh btw they have the cc logos in the window but right next to it a sign that says they aren't accepting credit cards at this time. There is an ATM inside but who knows what those fees...
Read moreI will start by saying that this place was recommended as a last minute resource by a co-worker. I planned a party for a friend and when I called, I spoke to Abby; She was great and very helpful in assisting me with my preparation and planning. Our party was Sunday, Nov.5, 2017, at their second floor (private room). The place itself was very lovely in appearance. That Sunday was a rainy day, the marathon was going on and we were coming from Queens. After being stuck in traffic, we received a phone and we informed staff that we were approximately 4 minutes away according to the GPS. We arrived late, the party was supposed to begin by 12pm, and we arrived at the restaurant by 12:50 due to the excess congestion. We reserved the restaurant until 4pm. Upon our arrival the owner Jimmy, after opening the door for me he stated "DO YOU KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS!" I responded "yes", we were stuck in traffic as I told the person I spoke to over the phone earlier. He says again while still holding the door in front of all the other customers in a very loud voice "I HAVE A PARTY AFTER YOURS!!" I responded, "Really? My party doesn't end until 4pm and its only 12:50pm". He just ruined my day. Now, Wendy she's a very lovely person, knowledgeable, courteous and professional; She was in charge of our party and assisted us in any way possible. On the other hand, the OWNER JIMMY, RUDE, RUDE, RUDE. The food was good, drinks not so good and service very mediocre. We had 2 waiters a young lady named Amanda was nice and tried to be helpful, but other wait staff a young man, well, he needs customer service skills. This was my first experience with this establishment; I will not be returning. They need to improve their customer service skills. The parking attendant was rude to members of my party when leaving. Perhaps they should have more staff on call during...
Read moreI placed an order of nearly $100 and unfortunately had a disappointing experience due to repeated mistakes and lack of acknowledgment from management. I requested BBQ wings over the phone, the receipt showed “whiskey BBQ,” but I was given what appeared to be Asian-style wings resembling a sweet-and-sour type sauce and they forgot to add my soup. Even the hostess acknowledged they smelled like the Asian sauce. I waited an additional 10–15 minutes for the order to be remade, only to find once again that it was not the BBQ flavor I requested. Unfortunately, when I returned to my car for the second time, I discovered the wings were still not prepared as requested. At that point, what appeared to be the manager or owner came out, confirmed I wanted “just BBQ,” and he explained that whiskey BBQ and the Asian sauce were “nearly the same.” In my opinion, these sauces are completely different, and I was unclear how the order could be confused twice given the distinct flavor differences. At a minimum, confirming the order details before remaking it would have prevented the repeated errors. Considering the size of the order, and the fact that the wings were made incorrectly twice, the forgotten soup, I expected a sincere apology or some gesture of goodwill. While mistakes can happen, what I found disappointing was the lack of acknowledgment of the inconvenience, no apology, or a genuine concern from management. I felt as though the wings could have been compensated due to the avoidable errors. I left feeling that the situation was handled without empathy, which unfortunately overshadowed the rest of the food experience.
(I’ve attached a photo of what is clearly not BBQ sauce...
