I’ve recently moved into this part of Astoria and was happy to see another Green Grocery store around the corner from my new place. I used to shop at Greenbay further down Broadway so I thought this would be a great replacement. I was disappointed to see how congested this little place gets when entering and how narrow the isles are, especially when crowded with customers. The six times I’ve been into this grocery store it’s been hectic, crowded and uncomfortable, and once I finally get to the register, I’ve been asked if I’m apart of the rewards program they offer and after I say no, I’m new to the neighborhood, the engagement stops. No one has yet to offer or explain the rewards program because the cashiers are more interested in keeping the line moving, which is the only kind thing I have to share about this place at this time. If the staff is reading this, you only have one chance to make a good impression on your new customers. Take my feedback to heart because your business has a lot of potential to be better then where you are right now. Good luck...
Read moreI only go here because of the convenience, but if I could, I would rather shop in the city before I come home so I don't have to make a stop here. The wilting and sometimes rotting vegetables speak volumes about how much they care about what produce they keep for sale (the red peppers are almost always rotting). I wonder if the reason why most vegetables are going bad is because they use all that up to make their buffet food, which is one of the big reasons why I never eat from there. They used to have a program for members where people earned points for shopping from there which they took away (because they are the only store in the area) and now they give points for when you pay for something from their buffet. The staff is okay- some good, and some terrible, fortunately or unfortunately I have experienced both ends of this spectrum. An by the way NEVER order Latte from here, they call it Latte but it is just plain coffee lol. No Frothing STEAMED milk! You can probably make one...
Read moreI don’t understand how this store has 4 stars. I live in the neighborhood a few blocks away from it and I have been here many times when I didnt have time to do my groceries in the city after work (at Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods stores.) This place is not cheap at all, the prices are literally the same as Whole Foods, the quality of the food, vegetables and fruits is actually better at Whole Foods. So basically everything is over priced, with poor quality. The store is also dirty and the people working here have an unfriendly attitude. ALSO, they claime the food is cooked daily and so the fruit they sell cut in containers, but I have tried both and they are definitely not fresh or prepared the same day. I try to never have to go because I always get upset of how much they charge you for things I would pay half of the price when I do groceries in Manhattan, that’s how pricey this place is. I would rather have Whole Foods near by so at least I’m paying over price...
