Wow, if you are a fan of charcuterie and mom and pop shops this is your mecca. Muncan is a butcher shop that focuses on charcuterie and artisinal preserved sausages and meats. The shop has been owned by the same family for many generations. The service is spot on as they offer you to taste any of the items and provide great suggestions and backgrounds on each piece. My go to here are the pork head cheese which was flavorful and had all the lil bits of different pork pieces. The winter salami was also very hearty with nice flavor. The lamb proscuitto is a must if you want something original that isn't offered anywhere else. I also liked the mortadella cold cuts meat which had pistachio and peppercorn which made for great sandwiches. Go for a small bag of pork rinds in the back as well. There is no doubt, this is the best meat market in Astoria by far! A genuine connection with Balkan food and products. The staff is very attentive and kind, and they speak several languages. They carry domestic and homemade sausages, hams, prosciutto, lard, cracklings ("cvarci"), homemade fillos and pickled vegetables (even a sauerkraut!). Fresh meat is also available, but there are no dairy products and eggs in this store fyi. They even offer to make your order online, so you just come for pick up.
