CityLight Church — Attraction in New York

I first visited this church on Resurrection Sunday and received a warm greeting as I entered the church. I felt the spirit of the LORD during praise and worship and was blessed by the sermon. My 14 year old son accepted Christ into his life of this day. It was such a special day! I have returned to the church a couple of times thereafter because it is a bit of a commute for us, but we plan to attend more frequently. I received an email about baptisms for May 4th and my son decided to sign up. My 89 year old mother had given her life to Christ a while ago and had been telling me she wanted to be baptized and I didn't have a church home or didn't know where to take her at the time. So when I learned about his opportunity with Citylight Church, I asked her if she wanted to get baptized with my son. I explained this to one of the church staff members, Sarah and she was extremely helpful and answered all of my email inquiries in a timely manner. My mother and my son got baptized yesterday and the church staff was extremely accommodating to us. It was truly amazing to see all of the souls that were baptized! I come from a Pentecostal/Catholic (strict conservative/ liberal) upbringing so I was hesitant in trying a new church. I was always confused about God and my faith, but being a member of CITYLIGHT church for about 9 months now has redirected my way for the better. After losing my mom recently I went to service, joined the 21 days of prayer and fasting where I was surrounded by a community of prayer warriors. This allowed my prayer life to grow and my fear of praying for others to lessen. The life groups allow me to connect with the community, being baptized at the church was an amazing experience and everyone is approachable. In this church I feel the Holy Spirit so much. I love at the end of service there is a ministry team that prays for you and every 2nd Sunday there are healing rooms. This church has given me plenty of opportunities to grow my faith in the Lord. I’m blessed that there is also lots of street parking. I learned about my spiritual gifts during growth track as well.

My only wishes would be to have more teen involvement so that my younger cousin would feel comfortable coming and a Spanish translated service...

I have been coming to the church for not very long (1 month & 1/2) but I can see that it has a very good sense of community. I love the family like environment and the appreciation they show to every person that is involved as well as the church itself. It’s an inspiring church with a highly talented worship team. I am excited to see what is in store for my family as we continue coming to this church. It is a smaller church but that’s all the more reason to go. I can’t wait to grow with the church and see all the ways the Lord blesses them. Coming from the south and their churches it is very different but it’s still very promising. I think we got lucky finding such a great church. We hopped around a couple of others but had to come back here. The only things I’d personally like are longer sermons and the audio/production but these are things that improve in time and isn’t something that would deter me from coming.
