What a horrible experience. Using an app that is advertised as food that is going to be thrown out, I placed an order at this restaurant for the first time. Upon arriving I was immediately told “closed, closed” through a glass with no hole or microphone. In my experience using the app, some restaurants have you arrive post their normal hours of service, therefore I’m trying to show the 2 people behind the glass but she actually shut her eyes & continued to say no we’re closed. At this point, I’m thinking maybe this is a new set up? They don’t know that I’m here, not to be prepared food, but to take away any leftovers/throwaway items that are still edible. So now I have to explain this to the app customer service so I need to take pictures of the empty establishment & the front of the place to show that I’m indeed at the correct place but they are definitely not giving me anything. Customer service can’t do anything as no one will answer the phone & it has now turned in to a full investigation without me even wanting to I just wanted my refund. What I thought was my luck turned out to be a disappointment when one of the people from behind the glass came out & as I tried to explain myself she continued to just walk off. Talk about “eff these kids once schools out.” A few seconds later the second person came to the door & I tried to explain myself & she continued to say the chefs closed the kitchen & that there is no more food being made leaving me to feel a language disconnect so I explained myself in Spanish & she now just ignored what I said & continued to repeat they’re closed & she doesn’t have access to work the app which means there’s a management issue I guess? Not at all a pleasant experience, can’t say I’d eat here casually with such rude attitude all because I wanted to know for sure she knew what I was there for which I still don’t think she actually grasped. Not a good face...
Read moreLate Saturday afternoon I was sitting in my room and an overwhelming desire for food emerged. I remembered I forgot to eat breakfast and lunch. I did not eat well the past couple of days due to stress (yes I do not eat when I'm stressed; I'm an oddball) so the search for something cheap, close by, and filling began. What food came to mind? COLOMBIAN FOOD. I usually go to Jackson Heights for Colombian, but I would have collapsed and died of starvation if I had made that trip.
I found La Pollera Colorado through Yelp and ordered #16 PLATO MONTANERO (Mountain Platter) to-go. After 15 minutes, I received the food, anxiously went home, opened the package in 3 separate containers, and gorged on the plethora of food - grilled tender uncut BEEF, 2 inch PORK RIND, crispy on the outside and chewy in the inside, fully cooked fried EGG removing the yolk (dislike yolk), white RICE, BEANS, and 1/2 cut fresh AVOCADO. This dish could satisfy a CARNIVORE, despite the limited selection of meats, and consisted of enough food to feed 2 grown adults.
Portions are huge and FILLING. Menu has over 100+ ITEMS of breakfast, soups, main dishes, chef's specials, meats, seafood, salads, and more; a burden of choice for the customer.
Wait was 15 minutes. Lack of vegetables in the PLATO MONTANERO. Be sure to order a different dish with a salad if you would like to...
Read moreNot a bad colombian restaurant.. it's your average local neighborhood. The issue that I have with this place, is how abusive they are in a very nonchalant way, whrn it cones to giving you change, when paying in cash. Every time, I pick up food, have to argue for the pennies. It's not the money BUT the principle, that they clain NEVER TO HACE CHANGE. So they need to keep the pennies.. 1, 2, 3.4... and maybe a penny here, a penny there, wpuld not be a big deal...BUT.. it's their MO and when u call then in it. They pretend that you're annoying, and upsetting them. Just tonight.. they were supposed to give me $ 75.09 cents. The cashier gave me a nickel, 0.5 cents and apologize for not having more change. I asked her how much it was, at what she said....4 cents...so,I said...how about u give me my 4 cents..then she repeated that they had no pennies. Then, I said.. well.. then give me a nickel.. thst way u loss one cent and I don't lose 4 cents. All of the sudden,.. they found rolls of pennies and ga e my my 4 cents. So it was ok for me to lose 4 cents...but not for them to lose 1 cent. And this is not the first time it happens... ...and on top of things.. they add an operating charge.... but don'texplain what thst charge is for.
You can eat there...but be very.. very mindful and review your bill before paying without...
