Went there yesterday around 1:00 P.M. and was treated with extreme rudeness and disrespect. Wanted them to order a couple of books for me. Didn't have my card. Couldn't find it at home before I left, so I jotted down a couple of old numbers from my address book that I thought were valid. First I was helped by a very friendly and courteous Black librarian, but her computer wasn't working properly, so she turned me over to the other woman, who was speaking Spanish to a patron, then turned to "help" me. She had a Spanish accent. I gave her the book list I had brought. She went ballistic when she found out I didn't have my card. Just ranting on-and-on about: "how COULD I dare come without it? Why didn't I have it? Didn't I look for it before I left home, etc., etc. All this publicly; anyone passing would have heard. She treated me like a 3 y/o child. She located 1 book I wanted to order, then in exasperation turned me over to a 3rd librarian who had just arrived. That one, again, was friendly, courteous, and helpful in the extreme. I am still furious. And I intend to see that she is reprimanded, even if I have to contact the Head Librarian of the Q.L. System. Such a person should NEVER be dealing with the public. I don't know if she was resentful because of my age (white hair, walker) or if she just hates old men, or old male Anglos. But she will be...
Read moreThe only reason I didn't give it 1 star is because they have good kids programs there and the Asian, Female children's librarian is super sweet.
Having said that, most of the staff are really cold and rude and the young male children's librarian looks like he hates children and his job.
I also have an issue with the security guard. He told me I could not put my baby on the floor because he did not have shoes on, yet. He had socks on and he's only 7 months old. Everyone who's ever had a baby knows that you don't put shoes on them until they start walking because it's unnecessary and they fall off anyway. He had socks on and was minding his own business crawling and he told me I could not let him on the ground if I wasn't going to put shoes on him. It's not just the fact that he called me out for that. But he had a terrible attitude about it and then proceeded to talk about me to the front desk worker. And I know it was about me because he kept gesturing to me and rolling his eyes. Very...
Read moreFirst of all I think it is fabulous that there are places like this, the comment I am going to make is just a recommendation, the library is supposed to close at 6 pm, today I went to print some important documents and having everything ready after 45 minutes writing the computer was turned off at 5:45 am:45 , the truth I found it very bad of the lady in charge who acted as if she was not interested in my anguish, 1 they deleted my work, 2 it was something important and 3 there was still 15 minutes to close, despite I begged her to allow me to print she simply said . We are closing and I can't do anything. I know it is a free service and I like the place, neat, nice, clean but I think being a good human being should be above...
