Lava House — Restaurant in New York

I wanted to love Lava House, especially as a new addition to the neighborhood, but unfortunately, I'm not sure this restaurant will last long unless some things improve. The service left much to be desired—the lady who took our order seemed disengaged, not rude but definitely not friendly. My daughter enjoyed her waffle stick with Fruity Pebbles, but my Nutella crepe with strawberries and bananas was soggy.

My husband's $12 avocado toast was disappointing—just a slice of untoasted whole wheat bread with feta and capers, neither of which were listed on the menu behind the counter and neither of which he eats. Rather than complain, he scraped it off, but we both felt it wasn’t worth the price. On top of that, the utensils were flimsy disposable plastic despite being served on glass plates.

I’m all for eco-friendly practices, but the mismatch made it difficult to enjoy the food properly. It’s hard to justify the $60 we spent for what we received. I genuinely hope they can work out these kinks because I want to see them succeed, but there’s a lot of room for...

I stumbled upon this new store offering açaí bowls, and I am thoroughly impressed! The bowl was a perfect blend of creamy coconut and refreshing açaí, topped with an assortment of fresh fruits and crunchy granola.
