This is the worst grocery store I have ever been to in my life. Now, you may be thinking āshe probably had one bad experience hereā, but that is not the case at all. I have been going to this grocery store for the past two years because it is the closest and most convenient to where I live, but today I am drawing the line. After a slew of horrible experiences (which I will detail here) I am finally giving up on this awful grocery store.
Everything is over priced: Outside of maybe Whole Foods (and even that is up for debate) this small grocery store is the most expensive store Iāve ever been too. Everything here is overpriced. Milk is over $5 for a half gallon. A pack of tuna goes for $1.89 on a good day. The over-cooked, extremely dry rotisserie chicken is usually $7. I could go in for five items and still spend $40. This place is PRICEY, although I assume they get away with it because theyāre the only option in the neighborhood.
The produce section sucks: First of all, if you want produce from this place, go first thing in the morning or donāt go at all. Anything even close to being considered āfreshā sells out quick, and the produce is seemingly never restocked. With that being said, I wouldnāt consider much of this section to be āfreshā to begin with. Much of what I buy here gets moldy within a week. Lettuce from here is almost always sold within five days of the Sell-by date. And just last week, I went to pick up a potato and a bunch of gnats flew out at me. Just disgusting.
The workers are awful: Look, I know everyone has an off day, and Iām no angel myself, but I canāt remember the last time I went into this place and DIDN'T fight with an employee. The cashiers are nasty and rude (minus one woman with red hair who is always polite and chatty). When I ask for help finding something, the employees either send me to the wrong aisle or spend another 10 minutes asking other workers where to find stuff. Additionally, I have on multiple occasions seen managers get nasty with the employees in front of customers. Even if you go in here with a positive attitude, thatās sure to change by the time you depart because everyone else in here will bring you down.
Sushi is the only good thing here: I always try to end things on a positive note, so I will say this: the sushi here is THE ONLY THING worth coming here for. Itās made fresh and very reasonably priced. Also, the gentleman who makes it always looks so happy and proud when people buy his product, so sometimes that makes a trip to Key Foods worth it.
Overall, I would suggest you avoid this place at all costs. Like I said, Iāve given up hope on this market. I always leave here angry and with less hope in humanity than when I entered. For the foreseeable future you will find me either making the trek to Stop and Shop or Target in Kingsbridge or...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhen I was living in Riverdale for over ten year's liked shopping there. Yes, there are some rude cashier's. The Manager has always been very nice. Other than that mostly all good other than some stuff was overpriced. I got a job there after I moved out of that area. Worked there for almost three days. I wanted to be a cashier, but the Manager put me in stocking. My supervisor was one of the rudest guy's out there. Absolutely disgusting to other employee's, & I am not the only one who has said that. I am not someone who can deal with that after getting hit by a SUV upstate NY. I don't deserve that kind of disrespect. So I quit. Even though the Manager there has always been really nice he needs to get it together, & get rid of that supervisor. Your the Manager. Think like a Manager. Other employee's don't deserve nastiness like that, & trust me I noticed people who worked there quit every month. Then new one's come. There was a female cashier from the very beginning when I was going. She was so nice. We had great conversations together. After so many year's working there she quit, & she told me why a week before leaving. How disrespectful a lot of the assistant managers, & supervisors are. So again to the Manager who works there, & is a nice guy. Get it together, & act like a Manager. Get rid of who shouldn't be working there, & make sure supervisors or assistant managers are acting appropriately. The disrespect...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeen going there for years, and everytime I go there I ask myself "Why did I come here?" -They have a parking lot. The place is a total scam with their outrageous prices. When they have the "Sale" tags on the shelves, lots of luck because 95% of the time it is false. But what does that mean exactly? It means the sale items are rarely, if ever there, and it's clearly meant to deceive. Example : "Bumble Bee Solid White Tuna in water" is on sale. But DIRECTLY above the shelf tag are neatly stacked cans of Bumble Bee Chunk White Tuna in water. Those however are NOT on sale. So where are the sale items and why does the tag correspond with the non-sale item? Or, why aren't the tags ever removed when the item is sold-out? There are always multiple examples of this deception on display at all times, but see for yourself because it's their standard procedure. You need to stand there for 20 minutes reading the fine print on everything. They sell the Rao Spaghetti Sauce "on sale" . However, it's the smaller jar. When I went over to Garden Gourmet they had the larger jar for $5. less! That means that, in addition to their mark-up, they are pocketing another $5 per jar. FIVE DOLLARS on a jar of sauce! think about it. Robbery. Also check the expiration dates as well because they would rather leave the expired items on the shelves until they sell them and make...
