Just visited the place. Ordered couple of salads, few appetizers, soups and four shish kebabs. Food was horrible. Just for you to understand we have been to almost every restaurant it is and this is the worst place so far on the isalnd. We spent $230 for four people. Khinkali and mash potato were the only edible dishes. Ribs were oversalted like crazy, no responce from waitress at least to remove it from the bill or offer something else. Pork had a horrible smell. Chicken was ok. Service was ok too. Please stay away, for that kind of money you can eat in absolutely any restaurant on the island.
P.S. Dear owner, thank you for your reply, what is me posting my full name ( Alexander) if it so crucial for you to know, or picture changing the nature of the review. First of all, I owned several restaurants myself and trust me I know about thing about food and I know when the food is served fresh or frozen. Second of all eggplant, have of the meat platter, fries, rice , vegatables, khachipuri, and soup left uneated because it was not possible to finish. Our friends , me and and my wife eat out at least couple of times a week. We love to try new places and we have been almost to all Michelin star restaurants in NY , not even talking about regular Russian or European cuisine in Brooklyn and Staten Island. The only person that might like the taste of your bland, dry and salty food is the person that have never visited any good Armenian, Georgian or Uzbeki food restaurant. We don't need any refund , we just want people to be aware that they about to waste their money. Ironicly there are couple of similar reviews from different people that have the same opinion about how horrible your food is. Any place that respect themsleves would without question remove item from the bill instead saying" I woud talk to chef about it" but since it is not about the money, more of the principal, we paid bill in full with 18% service charge. Sadly three of four people now suffering from stomach issues from your " Fresh and...
Read moreI visited this place pretty recently for the first time in my life. I used to go to different Russian restaurants in brooklyn when I used to live there, but because I moved to staten island I did try this one. I can say that interior of this place looks pretty good with nice small stage, plenty of space to put tables, dancing spot, private room, and great lighting. I can also say that it is very clean. We did celebrate my friend’s birthday and ordered one of five available banquets. We arrived at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Table was almost ready with just addition of some salads, bread, and drinks. Lets talk about food: we got cold cuts of 3 different verities (5 star), fish of 3 different varieties (5 star), avocado salad (5 star), “gourmand” salad (5 star), eggplant roles (5 star), tomatoes with mozzarella (5 star), salty staff like tomatoes, pickles, and so on (5 star). Hot dishes: potato with mushrooms (great, but mushrooms were salty), samsa (great), manti (great, but only one per person), uzbekian piloff (did not like this - too much fat and rice is not cooked well), pasta with seafood (great, but pasta was not cooked well), shish kebab (great). Sweets: fruits (great), pastries (tubes filled with cream - great). Drinks: we got sparkled water, cranberry juice ( you can choose any orange, pineapple), coffee, and tea. They only drawback they do not have kompot even though it is in menu. Music and dancing: 3 STAR because it is kind of boring. Their singer is a young guy singing pretty well, but he does not know much about how to bring a Russian person to dance like hell and make any evening into nice dancing battle. He did sing many american songs where people tried to dance, but without any enthusiasm. I want to say that if he changes his program it will be great. Staff: waitresses are pretty good and taking care of everything you require amazingly. They are very polite as well. Thank for reading...
Read moreThe restaurant was nice. It was for my nephew's first birthday party and the setup was well done, even though the space wasn't that large. It's not a very big restaurant. Our party took up the whole place. Service was very good. They were on top of things like changing your plate out.
I didn't touch most of the stuff but to be fair, my sister-in-law did order a whole LOT of food. I didn't even know what most of the stuff was. Russian food in general tends to be a lot of tubers and pickled items. For instance, we had an entire plate of pickled fruit that completely grossed out the kids. My son couldn't stop gagging at the food on his plate. He was hungry, so we gave him a little bit of everything so he could try. To his credit, he did give it all a taste but he couldn't get through the first bite. Then the smell made him want to hurl, so we just had to remove the whole plate from him. There was a pickled herring that even the Russians at my table wouldn't eat.
There was one very delicious entree. It was some kind of battered fish with white sauce, rosemary and lemon. It was very good, super clean and tasted like really moist white meat chicken. Overall, though, the food wasn't fantastic and would...
