Luigi Pizza — Restaurant in New York

My now young adult son always loved the shrimp parmigian hero at Luigi's at 35th Ave. since he was a little boy. He used to also buy a slice or two of pizza regularly. Living independently in the city now, when he visits me in Bayside, he still stops by at Luigi's to buy his favorite shrimp parmigian hero.

It is no surprise that he strongly suggested that I go to Luigi's today (5/21/2025) to buy 2 large pizzas - a cheese w/ meatball pizza & a margherita pizza - for my OLBS Centering Prayer Group as my treat for our 2nd anniversary.

How delighted I was when all the members unanimously exclaimed how delicious the pizzas were! They asked where I ordered them & the actual location of Luigi's. Additionally, we were impressed that Roberto, the delivery man arrived right on the dot, at the requested time at 3:45pm.

It was also a pleasure giving my order to Steve who was very cheerful, helpful, & patient despite my being repetitious!

I am not one to leave reviews but the attitude in this establishment is ridiculous. I ordered a sicilian pie and a chicken roll. When I asked for an extra marinara sauce to go along with the chicken roll the person handling the money tried charging me 50 cents. I said I did not have 50 cents and only had big bills and he then said that he could not sell me the marinara sauce. He acted snobby, and acted like he did not even want my money and that I was just getting in his way. The principle is all wrong when most places give it for free and the store was relatively empty. I asked for plates, he gave me one when I have a family of 4. On top of all this, the sicilian pizza was super airy and was hard like a rock. My chicken roll was burned as well. Love the food but recently saw a large roach/waterbug crawling on the dining room floor in the afternoon. UPDATE - I had to come back and change it to 1 star. Not because of the food but the server was just blatantly rude to me for no reason. In the middle of making my order, he went to the next person and ignored me. Even the customer said, "she is not finished, did you hear her?" When my order finally came, I asked how much? He ignored me again and just took my card and turned his back (repeated it 3 times, each time louder). Even the other staff members looked confused and tried to help me.
