My experience ordering pick up was okay. I’d rate this place a 7/10, I’d come back for lunch specials but not dinner price. I ordered massaman curry w tofu, veggie combo appetizer and drunken noodles w tofu. The massaman curry was a 6/10, had a strong clove or star anise flavor, I’m not a fan of the tofu texture, but the portion wasn’t too bad. It just didn’t slap because of that strong flavor which I haven’t encountered when ordering massaman curry before from other places. The texture and flavor of the tofu was super bland and not too pleasant(very very firm and just weird), tofu tastes better when sliced so it soaks up the flavor of the sauce like how Boon Chu does it. The veggie combo appetizer was smaller in portion than I hoped: 2 veg dumplings, 4 piece tofu, 3 piece chive pancake, and 2 little spring roll. This is like an appetizer for one person, maybe two ppl if they’re not splitting it 50/50 and one of the two ppl is just sharing a little, yet it’s $16. Wouldn’t order that again, 5/10(all 5 points go to flavor/ taste, again the tofu was not “ it” based on the inner texture, needed to be drenched in sauce which luckily the combo platter came w 3 sauces). The chive pancake was very good. The drunken noodles was the best dish, 9/10 based on flavor, but 7/10 including portion. Flavorful, but for $14 I feel like more should have been included considering it’s just rice noodle, tofu, a very small bit of veg, and egg...
Read moreNiyom Thai is a true hidden gem in North Flushing. The service is warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere is clean and inviting. I’ve had the chance to try some classic dishes like Pad Thai, Massaman Curry, and my personal favorite—the Tom Yum Soup. All were excellent.
However, the real standout for me was the Drunken Noodles, cooked to perfection. And whatever you do, don't sleep on the dessert! Their Mango Sticky Rice is something special. Instead of the usual presentation, they use an extract from a Thai purple flower that adds a unique color and a subtle, floral note to the dish—absolutely delicious.
Having been to Thailand multiple times, I can confidently say this is some of the most authentic Thai food I’ve had outside of the country. Another must-try is their peanut dumplings, where they use that same purple flower to create vibrant, picturesque dumpling skins. It’s a small twist that makes a big impression.
My dad’s favorite was the Thai Fried Rice with duck, which he couldn’t stop raving about. He also loved the Thai iced tea, saying it had a bold, strong tea flavor that stood out compared to others he's tried.
Lastly, their lunch specials are available all seven days of the week, which is rare. Most places limit them to weekdays, so this is a huge bonus! I’ll definitely be...
Read moreI need to get some things strait first. Plenty of the 5-star reviews may be under the influence of very smart marketing move. There are information note on tables if you leave 5-star reviews in Google or yelp, you will get free desert or soft drink. Genius to get more reviews but afterwards got me thinking that’s not really right, since I always check reviews and the numbers could be manipulated by this genius marketing move. Here you have my personal honest opinion (didn’t receive dessert or drink for that). The food is very tasty. As Typically - Thai dishes are full of flavors. Appetizers are fresh and delicious. However, the main course left little disappointment. I got the crispy duck and my partner got the pork belly. The duck wasn't crispy at all. The rice was good and the veggies were perfectly cooked. Very similar to the pork belly. The meat was so dry-crispy that some pieces were impossible to bite. Again, great rice, egg, and perfect veggies. The good side - the prices are right. So not-so-perfect meal didn't destroy the evening. Overall cute restaurant. The waitress took my objections very kindly and smiled....
