For amazing Korean food Mahsil is the place to be. From crispy dumplings to cheesy pizza and a bubbling pot of Korean Army Stew, everything here is packed with bold, satisfying flavors. The atmosphere is lively with amazing music, a great vibe, and a cozy setup that makes it perfect for hanging out with friends.
The Soy Garlic Fried Dumplings are a must-try perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and coated in a rich soy garlic glaze that’s both sweet and savory. The Spicy Soy Garlic Chicken Wings are another highlight crispy, sticky, and packed with just the right amount of heat. The flavors are bold, authentic, and exactly what you’d expect from top-tier Korean comfort food.
One of the standout dishes is the Mashil Pizza, a deliciously loaded pizza topped with ham, pepperoni, pork, beef, onions, green peppers, mushrooms, black olives, and a mix of mozzarella and string cheese. The crust is stuffed with mozzarella and sweet potato, adding an unexpected but perfect balance of savory and sweet. It’s indulgent in the best way possible.
For something comforting and hearty, the Budae Jjigae is a must. This bubbling hot pot is loaded with Spam, sausages, kimchi, tofu, vegetables, and ramen, all simmering in a flavorful beef bone broth. The melted cheese on top adds a rich, creamy finish, making it the ultimate cold-weather meal.
They also have a long selection of beers and an impressive drink menu. I got a bottle of soju, which paired perfectly with the meal, especially with the spicy dishes. It’s the perfect place to eat, drink, and unwind.
While the restaurant gets busy and is a bit short-staffed, the food and atmosphere make it absolutely worth the wait. The authenticity of the flavors, the amazing music, and the good vibes make Mahsil a must-visit spot in Flushing. If you’re looking for delicious, comforting Korean food with a fun and welcoming environment, this is the...
Read moreRevisited this place after a long while and was APPALLED by how AWFUL the service has become! When my mom and I requested to sit in one of the empty booths, they told us that the booths were reserved for parties of 3 or more, so they sat us next to the fridge w/ all the alcoholic drinks. We were freezing b/c there was cold air coming out of the cooler, and there was also chilly air blowing from outside b/c the windows were open (they told us they couldn't close the windows either).
After we got our order, we noticed that there was one lady who was sitting at one of the tables in the booth area all by herself, and there were two other tables that were still empty. We asked if we could sit at one of those tables where it was noticeably warmer, and they still refused--this time they said we could only sit there if we ordered a lot (we had ordered a large pizza pie and a couple of drinks, but apparently that wasn't enough). Funny thing is, that girl sitting by herself didn't order much at all. Halfway through our meal, they seated a couple at one of the empty tables in the booth area, and the other empty table remained empty even after we'd finished our meal.
I can't remember the last time I felt so discriminated against as a customer (or feeling so cold at a restaurant!). My mom was even more upset than I was (though thankfully she wasn't as cold b/c I lent her my jacket). Needless to say, we're never going back! The pizza is still decent, but it's a bit overpriced (the Domino's on Northern Blvd has equally tasty pizza for less than half the price), and it certainly doesn't make up for the lousy customer service.
Oh, I should also mention they had loud music playing the whole time--it literally felt like we were at a club. It was so loud that my mom and I could barely hear each other talk, so we just ate without...
Read moreMy wife came with her girlfriends before and raved about how good the place was. So the opportunity came up to try it with our friends. Ambiance - clean and bright and modern. There are coolers along a wall with all sorts of canned/bottled drinks. On the other wall is a bar with taps and various drinks with prices according to the size you want written directly in to the subway tile wall! And there are 4 size options - glass, mug, tower, and like gigantic (ok I don’t remember what it’s called but it was big)
Ok food-basically, everything was very good except (surprisingly) the marinated Korean fried chicken. Rundown: truffle fries - really good. Ddukbokki was tasty (little soft for me) but had a few pieces of fried Mandoo. The mahsil pizza (the one with the sweet potatoes ring because I had to try it) delicious and reminded me of Pizza Hut supreme toppings. We got the original fried chicken (fka “tong dak” back in the day except this was a whole chicken cut up and then fried) - this was excellent. The marinated wings were just ok mostly because it was smothered in a heavy barbecue sauce which was so thick and cloyingly sweet. But the piece de resistance was the scallion fried chicken. This was tender chicken meat fried in a slightly lighter batter, thin drizzle of a honey mustard like sauce and thinly sliced scallions and greens on top. Epic and not that common (I think). Service was responsive and friendly.
Just such a great place for a different kind of chimek experience....
