Avoiding to compare our experience a tMargie's with anywhere else, I can say truly say this was a 5 star experience!
The food, service and atmosphere were all on point!
For starters, I planned ahead for.a concert we were attending at the adjoined hotel. I made a reservation in advance thinking I could secure a seat directly after the performance upstairs. I realized the last reservation ended before the concert would potentially end but I took the risk.
My wife and I traveled from NJ (close to Philadelphia) for this concert and I wanted everything to go over well for one of our rare nights alone without our child. We left our BnB and arrived earlier than expected so we had time to kill. We decided we were hungry and said why not grab a few apps beforehand and still come back for "dinner" later. The receptionist accommodated our later reservation for the earlier time despite reservations being full. It seems we areived just in time considering the flood gates open just after we were seated.
The service was attentive and very particular. We didnt find any starters that peaked our interest so we wound up oreer burgers. My wife and I both had special requests and we expected them to get it right.
The wait wasn't long at all but we got an apology for the long wait. We appreciated the gesture anyhow. They had a runner to expedite and serve our food but our waiter intercepted him when I suppose he noticed an inconsistency. Nice move! I watched it all play out like a movie. He wanted to ensure the order was correct before sitting it down in front of us. The adjustments were made and the burgers were brought to us.
While being served complimentary bread in the interim we were visited by the manager and receptionist who walked the floor to greet all the patrons.
The burgers were cooked perfectly. Im a burger snob. I wouldnt say it was the best burger I've ever had but it was the best cooked burger Ive ever had if that makes any sense. My wifes was medium with an exterior char you would assume to be well done and mine was medium well. Infirgot, we did sub the fries for truffle and got regular instead but again our waiter was on top of it. It didnt impact our experience.
The atmosphere was modern "beachy" vibes and the customers and staff were all diverse. Brownie points for diversity!
The culture of the restaurant was slightly above casual but the tone itself was very casual. We felt welcomed and appreciated while we were there. We shared laughs with the staff and they gave an aire of...
Read moreA Rockaway Gem: Margie’s is a Must-Visit!
From the moment we walked into Margie’s in Rockaway Beach, we were met with warmth, hospitality, and an inviting atmosphere that instantly set the tone for an unforgettable dining experience. What truly elevated our evening, however, were the incredible staff—PJ, Megan, and Ayesha. Each one of them went above and beyond to make us feel not just welcome, but genuinely cared for. Their friendliness was sincere, not forced, and they made sure we were comfortable, well-informed about the menu, and always had what we needed without ever being intrusive. It’s rare to find a team so attentive and seamless in their service, and they truly made the night memorable.
Now, let’s talk about the food and drinks—absolutely phenomenal. The crafted cocktails were top-tier—creative, balanced, and full of bold, refreshing flavors. You could tell that thought and care went into each drink. Whether you’re a cocktail connoisseur or just someone who enjoys a well-made drink, Margie’s will absolutely impress you.
The food? Out of this world. The prime rib was perfectly cooked—tender, juicy, and full of flavor, with a gorgeous crust that showed just how much love goes into the kitchen. The burgers were equally impressive: thick, juicy patties with the ideal char and seasoned to perfection, nestled between fresh, fluffy buns. And don’t even get me started on the fries—crispy, golden, addictive. The entire meal was satisfying in every sense of the word.
What really stood out, aside from the impeccable service and excellent food, was the overall vibe of the place. Margie’s has that rare balance of upscale quality and beachy comfort—it’s the kind of place where you can dress up or come as you are, have a relaxing drink, and indulge in a meal that feels like a treat.
We left with full stomachs and happy hearts, already planning our next visit. Whether you’re local or just visiting Rockaway Beach, do yourself a favor and make time for Margie’s. PJ, Megan, and Ayesha are true gems, the food and drinks are worth every penny, and the experience as a whole is exactly what dining out should be.

Read moreI really like Margie's as a place, it's a good fit for the hotel and the community. We had a nice brunch at the bar - B.E.C. was "really good" and the fried chicken sandwich was fine but I was expecting a little more taste and a moist chicken. The food is ok and hit or miss. One night we had wonderful apps but main course was just meh. Nothing is awful, mind you, but kind of basic and not inexpensive. But, what they lack in quality, it's a scene! Good place for Sunday Funday or mild hangover with friends kind of vibe, and the live music is really good. The room is open and tiled so the music can be loud enough to interrupt conversation. If you have someone who doesn't like loud rooms, might not be the place for them.
Get an "Irish coffee* - could be the best in town made with their own whipped cream. Servers are very friendly and efficient, and they serve a variety of beer, wine and cocktails.
Update 8/8/23: I had a Striped Bass special that was fantastic - very flavorful with black peppercorns and other spices. I was fishing out any leftover pieces from the red broth (yes, I'm embarrassed and if it were respectful to slurp the broth, I would!). A draft of Five Boroughs Tiny Juice IPA is a...
