I've been going to this bakery 20 years sadly I will never enter again. I will make the extra trip and go elsewhere. Customer service has slowly deteriorated at the front counter to the point where there are a bunch of teenage girls that would rather be on their phone then service the customer. They know nothing about the food they are serving it is Easter weekend and I'm asking questions about the Easter items and they have no clue. The young girl at the counter asked me how many pieces of pastry I wanted I said I don't know because they are all different sizes and I'm not sure how many of each I would like there are 30 plus pastries in this counter she gave me an attitude because I didn't know the exact amount of pastries I wanted to put in the Box..... Then spent 3 minutes chatting with her CO workers and finally returned with a big Box when I ordered the canoli's she seemed annoyed because she had to fill them to order..... so I just walked out at that point and took what little bit of cookies that I did order about $40 worth but I had intentions of making a $300 order for the holidays never again will I go back I have complained about the level of service nothing is being done to address it and its a shame because I love to support the neighborhood bakery but when the owners could care less and put stuff up front like this to deal with.... they obviously don't care -...
Read moreI've been going to Joe's of Avenue U with the girl for awhile now, and Nuccio's is my go-to for dessert. Compared to some other old school Italian bakeries, this place doesn't look like much at a glance, and the items towards the front of the store look pretty generic. Walk towards the back and you'll see all the old staples though. Every time the service is very friendly and accommodating. Did I mention that it's dirt cheap? I don't think I've ever paid more than $10 here for dessert for 2, and it's usually around just $5.
Everything I've had has been great. Their lobster tail is up there with the best I've had. I am typically turned off by lobster tails with their use of whipped cream, but Nuccio's cream is luscious. The rum baba, Italian cheesecake, rainbow cookies, cannoli, and other things I've tried are also great. You literally cannot go wrong. The rainbow cookies are also solid. While they mainly are a pastry shop, they make bread as well which I am looking forward to trying.
I am planning on getting something more ambitious from Nuccio's and if all goes well, I will bump this rating up. This is why Brooklyn wipes the floor with other Italian bakeries: fresh, consistently great...
Read moreThis place has gone downhill over the last few years. I just bought a pound of assorted cookies. Went to eat one as soon as we got home from the bakery and they were STALE! choc sprinkles, rainbow sprinkles, and the jelly cookies, all stale. So stale that if u inhaled while biting on one, youd literally choke on the stale brittle crumbs that flew to your throat. i stopped buying their servings of different cakes years ago bc they were always soggy and dripping wet (gross, no1 wants to drink their cake) - if you want quality, walk up towards west 8th. They wouldnt dare serve you stale cookies or sopping wet cake. So disgusted. A whole pound of cookies...
