O'Neals' at Terminal 8 JFK — Restaurant in New York

I stopped by O’Neal at JFK during a layover and had a decent experience overall. The food was okay — nothing particularly memorable, but it got the job done for airport dining. The drinks weren’t very strong, which was a bit disappointing, especially considering the airport prices, but they were still refreshing.

One thing that stood out was the ordering system: you scan a QR code at the table to browse the menu, order, pay, and tip all at once. It’s convenient and efficient, especially if you’re in a rush or don’t want to wait around for a server.

What really made the experience pleasant was the staff. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made an effort to check in with us regularly. Even with the digital ordering system, they were present and made sure we were doing well and had everything we needed.

The only good thing about this place was Henry Pacheco the bartender. Kitchen was closed for only God knows the reason. while the manager and all the additional staff sat across the terminal chatting in patrons seat, Henry, the bartender was meeting and greeting every customer at the door to let them know that the kitchen was closed while taking care of a full bar. While, we had the opportunity to speak with the manager, We weren’t left to feel much better as she too sat across the terminal. We expressed our concerns. She apologized stating “we had a lot going on” Yeah, sorry that we cut into your social time. O'Neals', at Terminal 8 JFK are not inviting at all. I stood for about a half hour or so waiting for what I thought was a " Wait to be seated" restaurant. That wasn't the case at all, there was actually no one that was a server to give you any instructions. When a male server finally came from "the back", I asked him do I sit anywhere? He looked at me as if I should have already known to sit anywhere, with the classic rudeness and aggressiveness that is almost like a badge of honor for people who reside in New York I guess.
