Pollos dona Maria for years had been my family favorite spot in Queens and Mi Tierrita restaurant in long island, this 2 restaurants had been the best for price, quality and huge portions, now after the pandemic, prices went up in both restaurants which is understandable, but Pollos Dona Maria quality is down and portions are ridiculous small, the food pictures and portions that you see in their website are not accurate this are from before the good old times, i spoke to a lady which i think is part owner and i address my disappointment and she agreed and acknowledge my concern, her replied was " prices for everything went up so much we had to reduce the portions to keep people coming" that's fine but their prices still went up and you reduced the portions and quality specially the bandejitas everything is so small even the rice which is so cheap is served and molded as a small cup instead as before it was like a bowl, the fried pork is a tiny skinny piece of meat, Mi Tierrita restaurant in long island increased their prices about 2 dollars and still gets so crowded but never fooled around in quality and portions, thumps up for them. I still want my old Dona Maria back when i used to be proud of bringing out of town friends and coming out with a big smile and thank you wow...
Read moreThe FOOD IS OK. Portion varies depending on the day? Some items a bit pricey, and the SERVICE NEEDS A LOT OF IMPROVEMENT. I've ordered from there about a handful of times so far, and half those times there were issues with the order. I'm an English speaker. Maybe that's why? Twice something in the order was missing and once I was given a completely wrong order. When on the phone they're in a rush to hang up and I knew they didn't get everything I said. And when calling them back to let them know something was missing I was treated as if I was lying and had to bring everything back to prove that I was telling the truth. I also had to speak to 3 dif people on the phone who "interrogated" me about the beans I said were missing from the order. I have never experienced such a thing at a rstaurant. I'm wondering if their customer-base is the type to steal or try to get a free one from them thus the suspision? For any non-Spanish speakers, I would highly suggest going somewhere else. There are other Colombian restaurants nearby that have great, friendly service and the food is much better. Even when I brought a guest who spoke fluent Spanish, it was noticed that service was seriously lacking. Will not...
Read moreI have never eaten here under it's present name or management. My first inclination, when I desire great chicken, short of preparing it myself, is to look to los Peruanos. I suggest Mistura Peruana for the area's best chicken. I'm hesitant to enter Dona Maria as my last experience at that site involved a serious, documented case of food poisoning linked to my fated order of stuffed mushrooms....my appetizer on what panned out to be a quite awful Thanksgiving. BUT, as I stressed above, the restaurant was not Dona Maria at that time. Frankly, I consider the cost it's rent or taxes cut into the property and liability insurance..... To succeed at that place, I imagine the present and future owners will be forced to cut costs and turn out substandard food. I'm not eager to walk the ten blocks from my dwelling to sample their fare. Within two blocks from where I live, I enjoy both Colombian and Peruvian...
