My family and I have intentionally supported local black businesses, especially as Rosedale & Springfield Gardens residents for over 50 years. So, of course, when planning a baby shower for a family member, we decided to contact Queenz Bakery Cafe since the mother-to-be LOVES their coconut cake. We spoke to the owner on Saturday, 2/19, who confirmed we could pick up our order (cupcakes, cheesecake, banana pudding, and oxtail patties) at 10am on Sunday, 2/20. I also checked the website to confirm that the bakery opens at 10am since we had other stops to make before the shower.
We arrived later than expected (10:20am), and the shutters were down to our dismay. We called the bakery, hoping that someone was inside, but no one answered. We sat and waited, and finally, at 10:36am, someone arrived to lift the shutters. Once I was inside, the order was not ready, and we needed to wait another 20 MINUTES (until 10:56am) for the oxtail patties. The hours on Google indicate that the bakery opens at 10am (see photo attached), AND a pickup time of 10am was communicated to the person who placed the order, so why wasnât the order ready? They should have been honest and realistic if the order would not be ready until 11am. Also, the Google hours should be updated so that patrons know exactly when your business is open and closed. When a business inconveniences a customer, they should offer something as an apologyâwhether discounting the order or providing additional patties/cupcakes. Instead, the baker offered ONE CUP OF COFFEE, which was insufficient for an order that should have been ready at 10am but was not ready until 10:56am. Lastly, while the desserts were delicious, the oxtail patties had bones in them, which in my opinion, was dangerous considering folks of all ages were partaking in the patties.
Every business cannot accommodate catering orders (especially when starting out) and should acknowledge their bandwidth to meet customer needs and expectations. I hope Queenz Bakery Cafe recognizes this and makes the necessary adjustments as soon as possible so that another family will not have the same...

I was impressed so I went to check out the spot, I wasnât disappointed the ladies there are exceptionally pleasant and professional. You guys are amazing!
I tried the potato chickpea patty, the oxtail patty and the curry crab and shrimp- they are hearty, flavorful and delicious.
If you havenât tried the pistachio cup, please do! You will not be disappointed, itâs my absolute favorite! While youâre there try the mini cheese cakes! The flavor the texture the presentation! Everything here is made to perfection.

I wanted to try the oxtail patty however when I walked out and broke a piece off I realized I had gotten a salmon patty instead. I went back in and politely told the attendant but she rudely said I had ordered salmon. My biggest mistake was that I told her I did not need the receipt when paying. Good customer service/ kindness and common sense would have been to pull up the transaction on the register to show me that I had indeed purchased the wrong patty. I would have acknowledged and paid for another but she did not. I was embarrassed by how she quickly shut me down in front of other customers and instead of going back and forth I walked out.
