Probably one of the worst culinary experiences i’ve ever had to endure. “Wow SS do breakfast” I said to myself as scuttled towards gate 35 for my trip to ATL. I know the drill so ordered from the giant greasy petri dish that looks like an ipad, I punched in my name and waited for my beacon egg and cheese and 12oz coffee. Well I waited and waited, along with everyone else inc a few cabin crew that were constantly looking at their watches, eventually a creature in a SS uniform scuttled forward with about 7 bags clutched between his 9 fingers and started calling names in a scene that resembled a UN distribution point in a refugee camp. I heard my name and got into the mix to grab my sandwich. With still no coffee I politely reminded the employee a couple of times to which he snarled and threw a 12oz cup at my head, but successfully I caught it. I trotted over to the 2 thermos pots to find them empty, I made perilous eye contact with the SS associate to signal there was no coffee, he emerged from behind a fryer with a pot and grunted it next to me, to be fair I only tipped 20% so I probably deserved this treatment, all seems to be going well until i sit down and take a sip of the lukewarm stale greasy beverage, gross. I let it go and take a bite of my sandwich to which point I freeze and try to process what is in my poor mouth, it was an Ice cold tater tot. It nearly made me vomit violently all over the other poor disappointed and traumatised patrons. I got up and left and honestly i’m so sad that I will NEVER eat a SS again, and i really loved...

The ordering touchscreen does not allow you to add ingredients to burgers, and despite allowing you to add a burger to the cart, it doesn’t actually do that until you decline fries and a drink on separate screens, then you need to go back to the first screen to add a second burger. Ugh. Really simple question: can you add pickles to a burger? You can’t. How about review your order, and subtract a burger you added, because there was nowhere to add toppings to your burger despite the menu clearly saying it would be a later option? Can’t do that either. You need to cancel the whole order (for our family of 4 and start again).

After 10 minutes trying, we gave up and defaulted to the line where one person is taking orders for everyone like us, who couldn’t figure out the screen interface… +10 more minutes / 20 mins in total just to order at this point.

There are 10s of people waiting for food and after asking for your name when taking your order, and printing your receipt, there’s no name on the receipt and no itemized list of things purchased.

When orders are complete, the employees shout out fractional order numbers (no name calling). No one waiting for food is able to find the fractional order number, and there’s no way to show the employees what you ordered because the receipts are not itemized.

Absolutely amazing they are still...

Shake Shack at JFK Airport is a true gem for travelers looking for a quick yet satisfying bite before their flight. The service here is exceptional—fast, efficient, and ideal for anyone on a tight schedule. Even during busy times, the staff keeps things running smoothly, all while maintaining a friendly and welcoming attitude that makes the experience even better. Now, let’s talk about the food. The quality of their hamburgers is outstanding. Each burger is juicy, flavorful, and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. It’s exactly what you’d hope for from Shake Shack, and it lives up to the brand’s reputation. The buns are soft, the patties are cooked to perfection, and the toppings are fresh and well-balanced. If you’re a beer enthusiast, you’re in for a treat. The IPA beer on their menu is crisp, refreshing, and pairs wonderfully with the rich flavors of their burgers. It’s the perfect way to unwind while waiting for your flight. Overall, Shake Shack at JFK Airport combines convenience, excellent service, and delicious food, making it a must-visit spot for travelers. Whether you’re grabbing a quick meal or just looking for a place to relax before boarding, this Shake Shack delivers on all fronts. Highly...

This was my first Shake Shack experience and I would have to say that it was great overall, although I have no reference to other locations. I had the double cheeseburger and while it looked a bit squished, it tasted great. I would agree with other reviewers that the service is slow overall, which appears to be down to how they 'batch' orders. Overall I was only waiting about 10 minutes so I didn't find that problematic, but I can see it being an issue if you don't have a lot of time before your flight.
