The Palm is the only sit-down restaurant in Terminal 4, so if one wants, say, a proper breakfast, then one gets exactly 3 choices, of which the All American (2 eggs, 1 breakfast meat, home fries, and only 1 choice of toast) costs $25. One would think that prices like that would warrant decent service and a well-kept restaurant. What we got was a polite-enough waiter who couldn't get 3 orders straight, then said he would bring the right order out but never did, and a hostess who asked me, twice, to lift my feet off the ground to sweep (nothing was broken). The coffee cup size was fit for a double espresso, not drip coffee. It was the smallest cup I've seen this side of the Atlantic. The banquette upholstery has seen better times--we were seated where there was a large stain, perhaps from water damage. The restaurant is really understaffed, and waiters seem to apologize at every table for letting the customers wait to take their orders, and for food arriving late. As for the food, it was charitably mediocre: oily scrambled eggs, bacon was not crispy, and the only kind of toast offered was barely toasted. As for the diminutive cup of coffee, it was borderline unfit for consumption. In retrospect, perhaps a better option, should one have to travel via Terminal 4 at JFK, would be to go to Dunkin, get a cup of coffee, and sit at the gate. If this is the optimum choice at JFK, then one has to admit that JFK is not a world-class airport.

Palm Restaurant at JFK Airport - Disappointing Experience Having dined at several Palm locations, I was genuinely surprised by the lackluster experience at the Palm in JFK Airport. From the beginning, the service level was noticeably below the standards I’ve come to expect from the Palm brand. Upon seating, we were not greeted promptly. When our server finally arrived, we ordered a bolognese, only to be informed there would be an additional $4 charge for parmesan cheese—a surprising and off-putting extra for what should be a basic accompaniment. When we raised this and other concerns with Gene, the manager, his response was far from professional. He was rude, explaining defensively that he was “busy” and couldn’t attend to us for 15 minutes after we initially asked to speak with him. This dismissive attitude left a sour impression, not something I’d expect from a Palm restaurant manager. Another notable issue was the lack of maintenance in the restaurant. Four of the TVs at both the dining area and the bar were non-functional, adding to an atmosphere that felt neglected and uninviting. If this were my first time at a Palm restaurant, it would likely be my last. I hope this experience is a one-off anomaly, and that attention is given to bring this location up to the brand’s usual standards.

I loved my view of the caricatures from Days gone by. My mom with a bad back. Had the perfect high-backed bench to sit on. Our waitress was awesome. The food was fine... I did enjoy my salad and it filled me nicely. But it was overpriced and not worth What we paid for it, even with the in an airport tax. I got the Gigi salad which had white onions, (why not red onions on a salad?) and iceberg lettuce. For $27, they should have used romaine. My mom got three sides as her meal. The broccoli Rabe was made without any garlic or flavoring so it was pretty bland and chewy. She did not enjoy it. She did like the asparagus. It was probably the best she's ever had. She also enjoyed her beans. I tried them they tasted weird to me...like they had broccoli Rabe on them (her food had not touched when I tried it). We did not partake in the $15 to $20 cocktails. Because of how much we spent on lunch... Her sides were $11 each... We skipped dessert. 🚻🚻 There was no bathroom in the restaurant but my mother says the one in the airport in the A section was awesome. Although the rolls of toilet paper were new and she had a lot of trouble getting them started. Skip the B section bathroom nearest the restroom. She would pee there again. I would choose it over the airplane bathroom but not much else.

If I could give this restaurant zero stars, I would. I’ve never in my life been treated so poorly—especially not at a restaurant. First off, let me say this: I understand being a waitress can be hard and stressful, but let’s be real here—it wasn’t even busy when we went in. There’s absolutely no excuse for the level of rudeness and disrespect we experienced, especially from JOHANNA, who apparently thinks she’s above doing her job.

We were just trying to kill a couple of hours and enjoy a decent meal, but wow, that was asking too much. The server, Employee #2040 (yes, I’m naming you because you deserve to be called out), was straight-up rude from the moment she approached our table. When she poured us water, she had the audacity to move my phone out of the way like she was irritated that we even dared to drink water. Um, excuse me? Isn’t that literally your job? The way she did it made it seem like we were inconveniencing her for simply existing.

It only got worse from there. When we were ready to pay, she brought the payment device and slammed it down on the table right in front of us. Slammed it. Like, are you okay, girl? That’s when I knew this wasn’t just bad service—this was personal. We wanted to leave a tip (yes, we were still trying to be nice, believe it or not), but the device didn’t let us pick the option we wanted. When she noticed we were struggling with it, she got visibly angry. And THEN, as if she hadn’t already done enough, she snatched the card out of our hand like she had some kind of grudge against us.

After all that, she had the nerve to sarcastically say, “Have a safe flight.” Girl, what? Why are you being so petty? What did we even do to deserve this level of hostility? Oh, and let me not forget to mention—the food wasn’t even good. Like, at all. Bland, overpriced, and not worth the hassle of sitting through the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. We only came here because we had two hours to kill, and we thought we’d treat ourselves to a “nice” restaurant. Big mistake. Huge.

JOHANNA, if you hate your job so much, maybe you should quit instead of taking it out on customers. And to the restaurant: do better. Train your staff to act like decent human beings because this experience was a complete joke. I’ll never step foot in this place again, and I’ll make sure everyone I know hears about how trash this place is....

Dear Management team at “The Palm,

Let go of the bottom rung!

Stop wasting everyone’s time and stop paying the high rents in JFK!

Give it up, already. Your once devoted public are now laughing at you with equal measures embarrassment and humiliation.

I just stopped into your restaurant at JFK at 11:30 am on a busy Monday in Sept and was informed by a sleepy eyed (probably stoned) girl that the only available seating was at the bar. In restaurant full of empty tables!

There were, in fact, a handful of other diners enjoying a table, so this felt like selective treatment to me. I am traveling for work, not drinking cocktails at 11:30 am on Monday, and do not wish to sit at the bar.

I THANK YOU for saving me $60 on what would have been a dreadful and overpriced lunch, based on all the reviews I’ve just read here.

Ever since you were forced to close the original location on 2nd Ave in Manhattan, you’ve done nothing but go downhill and disgrace your top shelf reputation which took other men 100 years to build.

The food and service excellence which NYC was once famous for is . . . almost completely gone in these strange new times we face.

You have the audacity to serve $40 burgers and $20 a slice cheesecake (from Junior’s where they charge $8.50) but clearly fail to deliver the service necessary to execute such a feat!

Your last gasp might be a complete overhaul of the management to retrain the staff and attempt to regain your former excellence, but based on today’s evidence, I am dubious.

It’s officially over and I’m very sad to see you go. More sad than anyone, in fact. Sniff . . .

I wish you all the very best in your new careers with Carmine’s Family Style Italian in the...

Thursday oct16 between 2:30-4:30 pm Don’t get me wrong here the food was phenomenal and I can even say this was the best ribeye steak I had for a long time but that Mexican lady that was my server made my experience awful 1st of all she mix up my order and gave me French fries instead of garlic mash potato and when she brought it finally she didn’t even look at my face she just throw it on the side of the table and turn right back around , during the whole time I was eating she didn’t check on me till I was almost about to be done then she stop by with that fake smile to asked me if I was ok and I said yes please the bill She gave me my bill it was around $90-$91 I gave her a $100 bill and told her to keep the change and right there she became very mad and told me that the tip wasn’t supposed to be that little but whatever that was on that paper and I said what I am giving that’s what I have and she repeated the same thing pointing on the bill the percentage on the paper till I finally said do u want it or not and she said it’s up to you I was like whatever , I started packing my bags and I noticed she didn’t take the $9 I tipped I took my change and left Please someone tell her this is america and Tipping isn’t an obligation it’s courtesy and the client will give just what they want to give based on the service you provided for them Am so disappointed by her behavior in such a 5star restaurant she don’t needs to be working in such...
