Tonight was me and my husband's first time going to the Social Corner. The ambience was so beautiful, welcoming and warm. We were greeted and seated by the hostess, who was very pleasant. Our server Latoya came over and she was so polite, courteous and friendly and she also recommended the best drinks. We ordered the sweet chili wings, steamed mussels and crab nachos. Not gonna lie, those 3 appetizers were the best we had in a long time. The night was going great, literally perfect until we ordered hookah from a short, light skinned guy with beard, I believe his name is Dodo or something of the sort. He had the NASTIEST attitude! Very unpleasant I must say. He gave us the hookah which was no good, he had to take it back and when he brought it back we got only a few smoke off it, we didn't even have it for 10 minutes before the charcoal went out. So my husband went to him to tell him that he thinks the hookah wasn't good and all he said to my husband "done it done"....I mean his attitude was nasty since he gave us the hookah! With a nasty tone he said "$45 cash for the hookah" so my husband asked him what flavor it was just to make sure we got the blueberry that we ordered, and all he kept saying was "$45 cash"....from there I picked up on his dirty energy! I'm not going to lie, had it not been for the hostess, the lady who brought out our food and our server Latoya, we wouldn't even think of putting our feet back there! These are people with dirty attitude that drives customers away from people's business establishments! Overall, the food, music, drinks, ambience was great, next to perfect! We will be back because we won't let one bad apple spoil the fun! We just won't be ordering hookah anymore because of that boy with his dirty attitude and poor...
Read moreAs much as I don’t want to write this review to not share with the world how amazing the food was, I just have to say, I went in on a date with no expectations, and ended up being completely shocked with how tasty the food was. Like this is a reggae spot , I expect the food to be average good Caribbean food, but this was next level delicious. For our appetizer, man got the crab nachos , so good we ate them in silence. Had to use a fork at the end to not miss a crumb. The creamy white cheese sauce was a crazy pairing that I never knew I’d love in combination with crab & sautéed peppers mixed in. Then for entree I got the jerk branzino with Mac n cheese and spinach as my two sides. Jerk branzino was deliciously good, like I could eat it everyday good, and I’m questioning how I’ve never had something like this before. I could end the review here at the branzino but I have to mention I’m picky when it comes to Mac n cheese, so when I had the first bite, a wave of sensory overload had me in disbelief. Really one of the best I’ve had. My second side , the spinach, I was also expecting to be very basic, but they flavored it so that you would actually want to eat it all. Man got the escovitch snapper which was perfect. Perfectly crispy with the perfect spicy pickled hot veggies on top that didn’t make it soggy. You could tell our food was freshly cooked. And lastly the drink. We got the 4-person rum punch with a huge lollipop and 2 long straws and had a great time while enjoying great dancehall music from the DJ. Vibes were good, food was even better. Service was fine. 10/10 would recommend running, not walking here for great delicious West...
Read moreThe only reason why I’m leaving 2 stars is because the vibe was great. However, the service was not. I entered the lounge not too long after they opened so I was the very first customer there. A guy came to sit me down and gave me a full menu & a happy hour menu. Now, it was a Saturday but I didn’t think anything of it when given both menus because it was very early in the day. When my friend arrived, we ordered appetizers and drinks off of the happy hour menu. However, when the bill came it was $175. We questioned why we were charged full price for our food/drinks when we were given a happy hour menu. The waitress told us they don’t have happy hour on the weekends and that the guy who greeted me, sat me at a table, AND gave me menus isn’t even employed at Social Corner. To say I was appalled is an understatement because the same waitress, Latoya, that took our orders saw that we had the happy hour menu. She also took them away from the table.
I wasn’t upset with Latoya because she didn’t give us the menu, but I was upset that the manager was not willing to deduct our tab when it surely was their fault as to why we even had the happy hour menu. What we were offered was a free round of drinks, that’s it. I really feel that was so unprofessional & just not right because as I customer I’m willing to pay for what I order but ONLY when I know the TRUE price. Additionally, I also didn’t like how I ordered salmon sliders but was given beef sliders (I haven’t had beef in 13 years), & was told salmon sliders aren’t even offered…yet they were on the menu.
Great vibe, good DJ, good drinks… but I will not be...
