This is my favorite Authentic Mexican food in Queens; maybe even in the whole city. Their tacos are amazing. I haven't had food so fresh and with just the perfect amount of seasoning. So far I've had the Carne Asada and Pollo Asado. Both are a definite recommendation. My friend had the Al Pastor and he enjoyed it very much. I've only visited the restaurant once. Be advised there's not alot of seating so if you want to bring a party make sure you call ahead to reserve seats. The restaurant's interior is very aesthetically pleasing. If you are a vegetarian, the vegetarian nachos with mushrooms are phenomenal at El Buen Gusto. They are the best veggie nachos I’ve ever tried from an authentic Mexican restaurant.

My fave is that they don’t only include the mushrooms, beans, and cheese like most places. When they say vegetarian nachos, they mean it! They add carrots, onions, zucchini, guacamole, string beans on top of the other stuff. And, it isn’t drenched in sour cream or covered in cilantro. You can also tell that the beans and the chips are homemade which if you know Mexican food, it makes all the difference.

The staff at the Noguchi Museum recommended this restaurant as the most authentic in the neighborhood. They were right. The menu is terrific. The chef really cares about food and loves to talk about preparation. Their mole is the some of the best I've ever had. They have crispy tripe tacos. The chile rellenos are not premade and frozen. Thank God. I've had too many depressing chile rellanos. It sounds a little weird but their guacamole is amazing and the chips are so fresh and crispy. It's such a basic thing. I don't understand how theirs could be so much better.
