I recently had the pleasure of dining at Taste of Himalaya, and it was nothing short of an extraordinary experience. The moment I walked in, I was greeted with the warm, inviting aromas of authentic Himalayan spices, instantly transporting me back to the flavors of home.
The food was absolutely amazing, bursting with rich and complex flavors that perfectly balanced warmth and spice. The beef sukuti was a standout dish—perfectly seasoned, tender, and rich in flavor. It had that distinct smoky essence that brought back memories of traditional meals prepared with care and authenticity. The tingmo, a soft and fluffy steamed bread, was an ideal complement, perfect for soaking up the rich and savory flavors of the sukuti. The momo (dumplings) were also tender and flavorful, rounding out an exceptional meal.
What truly set this experience apart was how every bite evoked memories of home—family gatherings, celebrations, and the comforting sense of belonging. It’s rare to find a place that not only serves incredible food but also stirs the heart with a sense of nostalgia.

Read moreMy first time at this hidden gem of a restaurant in Jackson Heights and It won't be my last. The food is outstanding. The service is friendly and on point. My go to Tibetan/ Nepal restaurant was Lhasa. Although the food at Lhasa is very good, the decor is lacking and dated. Himalaya is many noches above that. The decor and ambience is inviting and peaceful. Be warned if you are sensitive to incense, you might not like eating there. I feel it added to the food experience. I felt like i was eating in a buddhist temple! I had the Jhol momos and the Shapta Chili Beef. Both dishes were plentiful and delicious. There was enough for left overs. The Jhol momos were sensational. There are so many powerful flavors that i was at a loss to discribe them. So here is the recipes for the sauce. sesame seeds 1 tbsp cumin 2 tsp oil 3 dried kashmiri red chilli 1 clove garlic, chopped 1 cup tomato, chopped handful of coriander leaves 1 inch ginger, roughly chopped 1/2 tsp turmeric / haldi 1/2 tsp salt, or to taste 2 cup water, or as required 1/2 tsp sugar 2 tosp lemon juice I loved everything about this place! The location is great too! If you're on your way out of the E train @ Roosevelt Ave. GO THERE! |...
