We spent four nights at the Elmhurst Hotel as our plans were to be in The City all day each day. This hotel is a reasonably priced alternative to Manhattan-priced hotels. It is a relatively new property located just north of Roosevelt Avenue and convenient to both the IRT-7 el and the IND-E,F,R,M subway trains all of which will get you to midtown Manhattan in 20 minutes. If you arrive at LaGuardia, the Q70 Select Bus Service stop at 74th St is an 8 minute walk to the hotel.||||The first thing you notice is that the Hotel is very clean. The lobby is small with a vending and ice machine. The front desk is attended 24/7 and staff was competent. While breakfast was included in the room rate, there is no on-premises dining area. A voucher for limited menu options at the nearby corner restaurant is offered. We discovered a superior alternative on 37th Ave (Jackson House Restaurant). Our room had a comfortable king bed with four good pillows. There was a dresser, night tables, large screen TV and a well-traveled desk. The bath had a tub, and soap, shampoo/conditioner, and lotion were supplied. Towels were adequate but a little coarse. The El, while close, did not affect our sleep.||||Jackson Heights has always been an ethnic neighborhood and it still is today. It is colorful, interesting, and has character. The Elmhurst Hotel delivered everything I expected, and I would stay...

Read moreWhen I first arrived at Hotel Elmhurst , the reception area and the number of people around made me feel a bit uneasy. It didn’t seem like the safest or most welcoming environment. However, once I got to my room, things improved – the room itself was fairly decent, clean, and comfortable.
One of my main issues was with the shower. Unfortunately, it wasn’t working properly, which caused a lot of inconvenience during my stay.
Another drawback was the lack of a proper closet. What they had felt more like a storage space than a closet, so hanging clothes wasn’t really an option.
The biggest downside was the noise. Being close to the metro station meant I could hear trains throughout the night, making it impossible to get a good night’s sleep. The hotel’s claim of “noise-proof rooms” didn’t hold up in my experience, so if you’re a light sleeper, this might not be the best option.
On the plus side, the location was very convenient for transportation. The metro and Uber were easily accessible, and plenty of stores and restaurants were nearby.
Overall, while the rooms were comfortable and location convenient, the noise, lack of proper closet space, and crowded lobby made my stay less enjoyable. I’d recommend it only for those who need quick access to public transit and aren’t...
