The Bettered Bagel — Restaurant in New York

I came across this place about 2 months ago and have been getting either breakfast or lunch twice a week at least. The bagels and sandwiches are amazing! Even the little desserts they sell. Ive worked in places that serve both and I can say they know there stuff. But its not only because the bagels are good but how the prepare the food and serve it to you. The staff knows how to make a good sandwich. They all work as a team and are very friendly and are all about customer service. I of course have to compliment J.P that works there. He welcomes me by name everytime I go in there. He makes it feel like im visiting an uncles house, the way he welcomes you, his great suggestions, how he makes every sandwich like its for him and his family. He is GREAT!! at what he does. He really is a huge piece to the puzzle of this place, by the pride he put's into the customer service and making the food. All and all this is a great place for a great sandwich and comfortable environment. The staff is good at what they do and it really reflects on why i come back. I visited this shop at 4:00 PM, well before their 5:00 PM closing time, and asked for a smoothie. I was told that they were “not making them today”, which was surprising since smoothies are clearly advertised as part of their menu. While I waited for my Uber, another customer came in to order food and was told that the grill was already cleaned and they were not making any more food. When she asked what time they closed, they said 5:00 PM—so why were they shutting down an hour early?

It was incredibly unprofessional and misleading to turn away customers while still being open. If the staff doesn’t plan on serving food and drinks up until closing time, they should update their hours or at least post a sign so people don’t waste their time. The customer service was rude and dismissive, and it felt like they were more focused on closing early than serving customers. Definitely won’t...

Solid breakfast/bagel spot. I ordered the #1 since I'm not familiar with this place. I asked the chef/ock if I could get my order on a hero, he didn't reply. I also told him I'm getting orange juice and a bag of chips, he abruptly cut me off while talking and just said, "pay up there" and pointed to the register. When I got up there the lady gave me an egg sausage and cheese on a roll which i did not order. I'm not happy that I paid more then what I should have because I was charged for something I didn't even want. I would have tried to return it but I was already in the car and decided to just eat it. The food was good, but not as good as the food at the places that I frequently go to. The inside of the place was clean at least.
